    yeah.... that was an arrogant....
Bill, I get concerned when I see a friend and fellow club member about to dump - either on the race course or the internet. Let's just say the barge is telling Oregon Race Rescue to roll.

I know of four people who were at our General Meeting a few weeks ago, two of whom are Board members (one of which represented the club at the Region meeting), and the recollection is that the decision was to hold on a decision on Rockaway pending a) SOA moving Eatonville off of the top of Rockaway, b) finding a race director, and c) confirming the the City deals with the weed issue.

Item a) has happened, b) will work it self out, and c) is what is.

What was most definately NOT the outcome of that meeting was "the only way Rockaway is happening is if SOA puts it on". Your quote on another thread.

I have checked with my resident board member, and she indicates that no subsequent Board action has cancelled the race. No one has contacted the race director of record and told him that CORA isn't doing the race. If that had been the case, said race director would not have sent an e-mail to Rockaway inquiring about the weed situation and a Council date.

So, yes, the CORA rep to the Region meeting put Rockaway on the schedule.

Mr. Kaiser was planning to give you a call Monday to clear the air on this issue, as offline is a much better way of addressing miscommunications of the sort and he was at the Region meeting. Apparently that discussion didn't occur. That is unfortunate.

So, my friend, please crawl up on the steering wheel, crack the throttle, and get the sponsons back on the water.

ps - please note that this post required an EXTREME amount of self control on my part.

      Hmmmm Excuse Me......

just to set the record straight... after the stunt last year of allowing SOA to drop eatonville back on our schedule a week after rockaway, our little club has no interest this year (or a race director) for rockaway. "once bitten, twice shy".

rockaway is a great race site however it's not a cheep race to attend. the pits are small having no room for camping as most racers on a budget need. last year following a long trip to nationals, most folks including myself were close to being tapped out of racing funds. some racers had to to make the decision either to spend a big chunk of money (fuel, motel) and drive 6 hours from seattle to rockaway or wait another week and race eatonville close to home (not having to pay for a motel). what do you think happened? we lost our shorts... less than 30 entries.

before the region 10 chair assigns CORA a race he might want to check with CORA first. that arrogance just sticks in my craw.
STUNT? Excuse me, but Eatonville has priorty over the weekend CORA chose for Rockaway last year due to the Region by laws and having ownership over weekends number one. Number two, a few people in CORA made a "GENTLEMEN'S" agreement about scheduling Rockaway and Eatonville apart with a Race Director (Last time I checked they had to have board approval for stuff like this)and yes, I have the email to prove it....and they forgot to mention it to the board or the Commodore of SOA (likely be she was a girl....). Finally, just so you know, SOA gladly changed their date of Eatonville to appease CORA and give them as much time as we possibly could when the CORA members decided to let us know in MAY of the date issue/change. So thanks for the vote of confidence, but contrary to popular opinion, SOA did everything they could to make the schedule do-able for all racers in the Region, not just our club. And, SOA always will.................as I am sure Cora will as well.

Sorry for being brash, but after we had an emergency board meeting at Kitsap to see if we could move Eatonville to make things better for everyone involved I am a little offended to have it called a stunt, by anyone.
(by the way, it was because Cora wanted Rockaway to be the "first" race after nationals to gain entries per the gentlemen's agreement that Eatonville was after that ...we didn't have too many weekends to work with)

      Ex Commodore (not a gentlemen....just a girl).

well considering we brought about 9 entries a day to rockaway-and yes it cost a fortune-- the entry fees are a killer--in which I will vocalize now-- there will not be that many entries out of the Rucker camp this year-- with hours cut at work and other fun stuff-- dont count on it--where were the oregon racers??? guess its a good thing I have enough crap to bring my own class lol!!!

i would be more concerned with Milwaukee oregon-- then the divisionals in California (in which having nationals there most will be going to the divisionals)
then on to Cullaby--that entries might fall at these two races-more so than Rockaway.

dont get me wrong--i love rockaway but getting tired of all the criticism and what not-- do recall i am an SOA member for life-- kind of feel shunned at times when getting ripped into about rockaway when we were there in full force. Infact-- we werent going to go but I told Mike Johnson long before that we would show--so we did.

I dont think it was eatonville

          lol I like Rockaway.......
but Eatonville is not what hurt the entries at rockaway last year
rockaway was not on a holiday weekend last year like the year before and most people burnt up vacation days at nationals. rockaway is a 6 hr long swerving road kind of drive and difficult for a friday night down sunday night return-- i think that hurt more than anything. I took 2 days off work (which I could since I didnt go to nationals) or we wouldnt have made the trip either. Money was my #2 concern #1 was the drive and I heard that from others as well........ I dont think eatonville was THE factor as to attend the race or not...
anyhow Rockaway is a fun place-- and we will support region 10 best we can without the bashing-
