  • Region 10 2010 outboard schedule?

Does anyone have the 2010 region 10 schedule? Sean byrne sent me a post from the soa newsletter...are there any additions...subtractions from this schedule. When is race at mossyrock? Is it the weekend of may 2nd? Want to make reservations this week to stay at the resort.

    Thanks,

        Thanks kyle,

just got 2 motors ready to go last weekend. Will call tomorrow to make reservations for mayfield. We're excited about this racing season...new boat and engine...now we'll see if the driver can improve. We're working on our new/used trailer we bought from the byrne brothers...stripping paint, replacing lights, new paint in the future. We are not racing at lawrence...an auto racing conflict (apple cup...major late model race in the northwest).

        Good luck at lawrence.

CORA is hosting Rockaway. Assuming you are still a member, I am certain that Lee, Mike Johnson, Mike Bartlett and the rest of your members could use your help!

yes pat i am a member of CORA. i was elected as vice-commodore at our meeting last month. i just got off the phone with lee (CORA commodore) and he also has no knowledge of rockaway being back on the schedule (let alone being hosted by CORA).

just to set the record straight... after the stunt last year of allowing SOA to drop eatonville back on our schedule a week after rockaway, our little club has no interest this year (or a race director) for rockaway. "once bitten, twice shy".

rockaway is a great race site however it's not a cheep race to attend. the pits are small having no room for camping as most racers on a budget need. last year following a long trip to nationals, most folks including myself were close to being tapped out of racing funds. some racers had to to make the decision either to spend a big chunk of money (fuel, motel) and drive 6 hours from seattle to rockaway or wait another week and race eatonville close to home (not having to pay for a motel). what do you think happened? we lost our shorts... less than 30 entries.

before the region 10 chair assigns CORA a race he might want to check with CORA first. that arrogance just sticks in my craw.

Bill- First of all, chill out. Second there seems to be a bit of a communication error. You're talking to your Region 10 chairman who just hosted the region winter meeting last weekend. Obviously he wouldn't put a new schedule out with Rockaway on it without a CORA representitive at the winter meeting to confirm this race. Somebody clearly told him rockaway was a go ahead. So PLEASE stop using such a public form to make it seem there is some rift between CORA and SOA (which is what i got out or your rant).

If you have a quesiton about a race. Please contact your Region 10 chair in private via phone conversation or email. His email is all over the front page of hydroracer....

this whole issue was from the standpoint of me being excited to see rockaway on the schedule. i assumed SOA had picked up the race. i would love to race lake lytle as it's only 2 hours from my house. we (CORA) are only a handful of active members. we just don't have the bodies to handle another race. after last year we defiantly don't want to loose money on a race either.

with the respect to a "rift" between SOA and CORA? NOT WITH ME THERE ISN'T. (i did see an accidental email last year about a schedule issue that might lead to think others have problems). i think you remember i was the only oregon guy at a couple of SOA races last year. personally i think the best thing to happen in our region would be to merge CORA and SOA. pooling our resources would make oregon racing a lot less stressful on the few of us. we have more sites here in oregon to race than have bodies to make them happen.

i hope your first race as director at mayfield is smooth. that place is my favorite site we race. please know you can count on my help. i plan on being there early on friday.

Bill- I thank you for any help that you bring to mayfield. It should be a good race again.

I understand CORA's lack or resources, trust me, i've been racing in region 10 for 15 years. I've been to the meetings, seen the behind the scenes. I appricate CORA becasue they put on great races with little resources. I hope we can figure out a rockaway solution, but right now from my stand point there is a communication lag between the 2 clubs. Hopefully Pat can shed some light on this race soon. Jim and Lee should probably talk too. I'll be at SOA's Race Directors meeting this saturday and maybe we'll find something out there....

I've been called a lot of things before, but I can't ever recall being referred to as arrogant.

Buffoonlike, idiotic, Ill-informed, smart-a$$ed, jacka$$, dumb, useless, messy, late, early, short, selfish, fat, skinny, too loud, not loud enough, indecisive, butt-kisser, brown noser, out of control, my kid was out of control, my wife at the time was out of control, my dog was out of control, self-serving, money grubbing, whiney, mealy-mouthed.......all probably true at one time or another.....but ARROGANT???? First time for everything I guess....

But--to answer your question, in an email I received from Lee Tietze prior to the Region Meeting, I asked him if Rockaway was on. He replied that it was doubtful. I then asked him if he wanted me to remove it from the schedule. He said no, to keep it there for now.

Then, representatives of CORA (Kaiser, and the Thorsen family) ALL attended the Winter Region 10 General Meeting held on Feb 20th (missed you, BTW).

And at that meeting, it was the CORA Representatives who stated that Rockaway was happening. At the time, it was noted that SOA might want a race the week before, and the Region Chairman (that Arrogant guy) addressed representatives of both SOA and CORA and encouraged them to work together closely on dates so that if SOA decided to schedule a race the week before Rockaway, that they let their friends in CORA know that, since that might cause CORA to have second thoughts about holding Rockaway. Didn't you hear me say that?

Oh, that's right: You didn't attend the Region Meeting.

Just doing my job....which to clarify, does NOT include "assigning races" to CORA or any other Region club. It's keeping track of the ones the clubs or their representatives say they intend to do.

                        Arrogantly yours,

                        R-19

                            Who's on first?

Okay, enough is enough children. To much rain or something out here in Region 10. My Oregon contacts are Lee, Ken, and the Johnson's. One say's Rockaway is cancelled and as resently as last night - two say Rockaway is on. Could someone from CORA e-mail me (not post on Hydroracer) tonight or tomorrow after you talk and come to a consensus? We have an SOA Race Directors meeting Saturday and need to know so we can look at options if in fact it is cancelled.

Let's get this thread back on race dates.

                            Thanks
