Well, how fast does a European 250 run? I would imagine that the biggest differences in design would be due to the lemans start vs. the flying start. We've only built one alky boat, but I am curious to learn more about them.

      Us Hulls

It is hard to capare hulls from Europe to USA because we use clock starts. THe Euro boats are much faster off the beach, USA BOATS are not.

Ryan click on the link below to see a few photos of a European 250 hull close up you can enlarge the photos to see a bit more detail. I could be dead wrong but in these photos it looks like they run a full tunnel the whole length of the boat. Marc Johnson could probably explain a bit more in detail.

Thanks Dan, there certainly are some interesting things there. I would also be very interested in OSY boats if anyone has anything on them. I am curious in how different they are from our CSH boats.

I heard a rumor that there will be two if not three TOTALLY NEW boats from Pugh Boat Works competing at the 2008 O-250 world championships.

Which one of the Dickfors brothers is the boat builder ? I am sure many of the guys here in the states would love to see a few post from the two of them.

Simple answer is that they all do!!!

The boats are built by the whole family - father, Anders and the sons, Olle, Johan & Åke. They are incredible self sufficient because as well as being first rate carpenters and boat builders, they are great at engineering and machining, especially Olle who produces some top rate hardware for boats

Boat building is very much in the blood of the Dickfors as their uncle, Yngve and their cousin, Lars have also built boats. Lars was multiple OSY World Champion using boats that he and his father built. Back in the day, in OSY in Europe, the Dickfors boats were THE boat to have. And many of the boats that are raced and built today have their origins in these Dickfors boat designs....
