Holy Moly!! Bring it on, a heck of a Series. Better start getting ready.
I am sure the reason Tim is asking the question is the starting By-Laws of USTS way back when, stated if a class or classes were added, a class had to be dropped. Maybe not the exact language, but that was the meaning. The rationale of course was to keep the program the desired length the founders wanted, and also provide for full fields in what then were the most popular classes being run at the time.
Unless the By-Laws have been changed, a class drop would have been required if 175 Hydro is an "official USTS class". There have been new classes added to the program from time to time over the 20 years now of the series existence, but they usually were only given 2 heats and did not run for the full USTS prize money. RB comes to mind, as an example, when USTS first started.
175 Hydro was passed by a majority vote from the BOD to race at all 2010 USTS events, but not as an official USTS class. It will most likely run on Sunday, with 2 heats of racing.
Re thanks for clarification on classes added: DITTO from me.
Also a big thanks to you for presenting the ZAK Award for Mike and I. It is much appreciated, and since next year is for 250 Runabout, start scheming now. Two time winners are always welcome.
I haven't seen anything on new officers elected to the BOD. Is there any information about that yet. Any changes, new folks to harass, send nasty e-mails to, call in the middle of the nite??
New slate:
President: Pete Gryskiewicz
V P: Todd Brinkman
Sec: Tim Small
Treas: Rich Krier
remaining BOD at large:
Ed Thirlby
Bill Tetro
David Weaver
Mike Thirlby
Pat Wright
wow, 2010 is shaping up to be a great year for USTS racing. Congratulations on Pete G for becoming the new president of the Title Series. See everyone in Florida during Spring Break.
