did you keep roping it until the reading stopped going higher. You need to rope it about 6 times

No, It only made about 2 revolutions per test. I'll give it try your way. When I get home tonight.

          compression guage

          Hey Mark,

Make sure you are using a fitting that is the same length (reach as the plug you are using..

For instance 25SSH motor use a long reach plug, I built a motor for a guy and he checked the compression with his tester and a short reach adaptor and got like 90 and 100. I used my Mac Tools tester with a long reach adaptor and got 140 per hole.

          Regards,

Dave, I'll check the reach tonight. The theaded end I used was the one that has the 14mm threades and the 18mm theades right behind it.

              In addition . . .

all compression test procedures I have read say THROTTLE WIDE OPEN! And yes, spin it until the gauge goes no higher.

Thanks for all the great advise guy's. I just got home from work and checked it again. I kept roping it until it quit gaining pressure. It read 140-142 psi. Phew, that's a relieve to know the rings and cylinders are in good shape after last weekends tear down and reassemble. Yes it got thirsty for some of that muddy water at Burlington
