I have tried to get my pickles shaped for 2014. Would be nice to have an official templet now, in case I have to tweak them for next season.Team Tower

Off Topic But Here
It is a sad day when inspectors invest into their own tools, or make their own tools to enforce a rule. Doesn't that violate the very basic theory of having an inspector ? Don't make rules so difficlut that inspectors are scared to enforce them....... use your heads for crying out loud. This is a fun sport, not a professional NasCar type sport. We race for the fun of it, and some places pay out some cash to helo offset expenses. It ain't rocket science folks, and it dam shore aint safety science either.........
By the way, I can't use that new pickle guage, it ain't thick enoughDave Mason

For the record
Hi John - First I would like to commend you on your Pickle Fork Gage. You did a very nice job and I'm sure it will give other people on the site some ideas of there own to make one.
Now, to your reply back on my comment regarding my post on the name of radius "gage" or "gauge". I would like to point out first that your responce stating my post was "Wrong" is incorrect. You see the word "gauge" can be used as a verb or a noun in the english language. The word "Gauge" was derived as a British/English word over two hundered years ago as a means of measurment. (See Google - Gauge vs Gage) The word "Gage" is primarily used in America as describing a tool used for "taking" measurments. However because the word "Gauge" was also accepted as a "number" of measurment such as in the machinest hand book you described for wire diameter, railroad tracks, gun barrels, metal thickness ect. many people have adopted this word for describing the tool that does the work, which relly in not proper. Bad habbits become accepted habbits. It has been bounced back and forth for discussion at many a water cooler many times over which spelling is correct for the "tool" that performs the task. Such as, is it a "Ruler" or a "Scale".
I work for a Aerospace company as well and actually work in the layout and inspection department using "Gages" everyday in my work. All of our "gages" must be calibrated of course and that is left up to the "Gage" crib to perform that task.
I meant no disrespect to the tool you made and being as you made it you can call it anything you want but I do not side with your insinuation that I do not know what I'm talking about when it comes to the "proper" name for the tool.
I also feel that the people that make "Gages" such as your company should maybe take a look at what other companies use for wording when it comes to proper spelling. The following pictures I have posted are just a few examples from some very respected "Gage" makers in the world.
