44xs pistons.
Concerning 2 and three ring pistons, this is from the APBA S.O. technical rulebook:

specifically for this engine are allowed. Legal parts for three-ring
pistons are: Pistons: P/N 743-5172A6 (standard), P/N 743-3366A2
(0.015 oversize), and P/N 743-7716A2 (.030 oversize). Rings: P/N
39-27841A12 (standard), P/N 39-28616A12 (0.015 oversize), and
P/N 39-89822A12 (0.030 oversize). Legal parts for two-ring
pistons are: Pistons: P/N 780-9229A7 (standard), P/N 780-
9229A10 (0.015 oversize), and P/N 780-9229A11 (.030 oversize).
Rings: P/N 39-18653A12 (standard), P/N 39-18653A1 (0.015
oversize), and P/N 39-18653A2 (0.030) oversize. It is permissible

Sam,
One of my Quincy built B Mercs had Turner pistons and L rings. I didn't like them - motor was hard to start.
The last set of pistons and rings I bought from Quincy were single ring Turner pistons (~.050" over) with a very thin ring. The rings had a lot of tension and I think had a chrome face. George Stillwill has those now. Maybe he'll see this and tell us what they were/are.
I don't know if the pistons I was getting from Quincy altered port timing or not. At the time I was buying them they were probably just selling off some old alky stuff that they still had laying around so almost anything is possible.Last edited by David_L6; 11-26-2004, 08:00 AM....
