another good prop supplier
Back in the early and mid 80's a fellow named Denny Wiatrowski (spelling?) was selling propellors that were really good. Strange blade shapes and the first "tulip" style blades I had ever seen. I say he was a supplier because all of a sudden after making a big splash on the racing propellor market (no pun intended) he just disappeared from the scene as fast as he appeared. The rumor was that someone at Mercury was actually building the props and he was then getting them from that person and selling them under his name. I had a couple of props that he built (or supplied), one of which set the RB Hydro kilo record at almost 91MPH with the motor breathing thru one 25MM carb. He also supplied some props for some other people I was close to at the time that won nationals, hi point awards, etc., with them, such as Butch Leavendusky in 500 Runabout winning a National Championship at Ackworth Ga.
I heard later that a person calling himself the Prop Doctor, who was in Texas at that time (late 80's) was the person who actually built the props Denny sold. Since I have no personal knowledge of that I can"t comment further, but it was mentioned several times later that someone else was building the props and he was selling them. Whoever made them really knew what they were doing as the people I knew who purchased from him got more than their money's worth. I always wondered just what the real story was about the whole deal with him.
My own personal experience with the 125 equipment I co-owned recently was only with Craig Dewald and he did a great job for us. A couple of National championships, a world championship, and Hall of Champions induction for Tim Brinkman pretty well indicates he knows what he is doing.
In addition he is a fine gentleman who has lived up to the spirit of the ZAK award for several years now by donating a propellor to the winner of the award, so currently I would go with Craig.
I am sure as mentioned there are others but I have no personal knowledge of them.
