    Tach

I used have a tiny tach for my 44XS mercury.....it worked for maybe 4 heats and then got stuck at 7200 rpm....I was of course very dissapointed. I am in the market for a tach....does Digitron work with a 3 cylinder?

      Tiny Tach repair

If you have a dead tiny Tach you can "dig" the potting material out of the back and hook up a couple of aa size batteries in place of the dead battery. This also makes it easy to clear a stuck reading.. you have nothing to loose by trying this on a dead of stuck unit. you can get a small battery holder at Radio Shack for a few bucks.

        Tach

Well...my non working tiny tach is at the bottom of Lake Oroville when I destroyed my DSH testing a few years ago. But thanx for the tip.

I bought a tiny tach for my CSH and I hooked it up a couple different ways, I called tiny tach and asked them what to do n it still didn't work. Don't spend the money on a tiny tach!!

              Mike,
What model Micron are you using?
And, exactly how does it attach to the engine?
Are the leads long enough or can you add to them?
And,... does it look like a harness could be made up which would remain on the engine and a disconnect (Radio shack plug, etc). installed. That might make it easier and quicker to swap the instrument head from one boat to another.
Just curious. Can't seem to gather this info from the website.

Alex I use the basic model older Mycron 3 the newer model 4 will hold more sessions. A session is each time the motor is started mine will hold 50 sessions. It measures RPM's, head temp and laptimes with the optional beacon which I have. The sessor goes in the windsheild and every time you pass the beacon it will give you a lap time. All this is saved in each session. So if you are testing props you write down the session for each one and you can go back and see what each one did, all this is downloaded in a pc in a graph using the oval kart program. You can get any length leads made plus extensions with plugs. The RPM wire is just a plain wire that wraps around the plug wire, the head temp wire is special with special plugs that conect it. All you need is the basic model.
