    Beautiful indeed.

With the tremendous increase in power Sled gave the OMC triple in 850 Mod ... these mods on 6's would no longer be class killers they would have been when FE was first written up

I'm certain Miss Vickie's boat (if set up to do so) could shred Cheney's record any day of the week

Does anyone remember Howard Shaw's screen name here on Hydroracer?

I assume that is a piston timed 3rd port on those side carbs, and not reed valves?
        -and a 60" block?
        Very nice indeed
ps; I often wonder if we should not have mandated stock exhaust plates on the 497 triples in FEH. All the 'grunt' would still be there, but with out the top end.

Actually there ARE reed blocks behind the extra carbs.

Look at the transfer port cover above the bottom carb ... looks siamese to me. With the exception of a very few replacement blocks (many bought by Quincy) siamese port 6's are 66's

What are you getting at? Doesn't her boat run an OMC also?

Yes, both are OMC's ... but OMC's capable of Cheney's speed are now common rather than uncommon ... I am saying that the OMC has evolved into the absolute ruler of the class, the handicaps that are imposed on the other FE/850 motors will keep it so. Paul Fuschlin once ruled in FER with the 6, but with the increase in power/speed given to the OMC in the past 5 or 6 years, that era has ended.

                    While you were building motors...

Wow!!! This is some great stuff.

All I can say is: While I was off in the Air Force from 1967 thru 1987, launching B52's and KC135 tankers; working on the railroad in Thailand (laying 'ties',,); over in Guam launching Buff's during typhoon alerts; and getting 'blown' away in MA-1A Alley off of BC Street while hitting the bars near Kadena AB, Okinawa.... YOU guys were not wasting your time back here at home. I wouldn't trade places with ya for a minute. Welllll... maybe..., maybe if I coulda had a job connecting-up amps for the Beach Boys....!! All a them Coli-fawn-ee-yaa girls..... ohh baybeeeee!!!

                      The record still stands.....

Might be the location of Kilos currently too. It is very difficult to travel to Oregon and set the record given certain things. A lot of time spent racing in that environment with that atmosphere and water buoyancy is certainly an advantage. It would take some a solid week of testing to get the jetting right and the set up right for that kind of race.

I applaud Chenny for accomplishing what he has with the Kilo record.

Now back to the threads intent:

NICE 6 you have there !! Anything Lon touches turns to something fast !!

To average 104+, I'm sure he could do 110, but these days, I don't think he's alone anymore.

I think one of his passes was well over 106

Jetting for Oregon may present its own unique set of problems, since the record in question was set in Oroville, CA.
