I run VP C12 with 1 gram/gallon of pure Columbian cocaine and a drop or two of fresh toddler urine. This mixture has net me many wins and always passes the meter. Meter meter meter..... Buy a jug of race fuel, whatever the octane, they all pass the meter every weekend and there is a motorcycle/go kart shop within miles of everyone that has it in stock. Expensive? Yes, but you aren't going to have to head back to town with an empty jug on a Saturday morning looking for clean stuff just so you can race. Note: the Region 3 toddler production program to produce more fuel additive and stimulate the APBA membership is in full swing and we are very pleased with our progress. If ya like that one, here's another: after testing with some Italians from Delaware, I learned to coat the bottom of the boat with marinara sauce and run extra virgin olive oil in the gear foot. These practices will help you pass the meter in inspection as well.Just trying to lighten the mood around here! By the way, the Golden Gate Bridge is for sale as well... AV gas runs fine at 7,000 in my 850
But I agree, it gives no advantage in stocks and might be a little slower than a non-ethanol 89 if you can find it.
If you can't get something else, it will at least put you on the race course legally ... and the rest of your set up may put you out front. If I ran Stock, I would at least test it ... some low compression motors are not sensitive to the higher octane - there are few absolutes in fuel

Its called 100 ... but the aviation octane test is done differently than the car/boat tests ... its something in the 105-110 range comparatively ... but there is no exact synch between the tests.
On street gas pumps you see r+m/2 ... which means the average of the 2 land ratings ... "R" for research, and "M" for motor. The motor test is usually more accurate for 2 strokes and involves heating the incoming mixture to a pretty hot temperature, the research test is much closer to a normal car operation and is considered more accurate for 4 stroke car motors. Also the motor test is often more accurate for acceleration loads and the research more accurate for cruising loads.
Most fuels score higher on the research test than the motor test.
What is dispensed from any particular street pump can vary from day to day. If a local distributor is very very low on 87, they may sell 89 or 91 to the retailer and not tell them. There is no law against it other than price ... most states have laws against selling below advertised grade, but only a few actually test and enforce. Maryland does ... every once in a while no name stations are caught selling below advertised grade as higher ... almost always within a mile of the state line ... this tells me in other neighboring states retailers and customers are sometimes getting cheated.
Octane rating is the result of a physical test of the gasoline and not an exact breakdown list of the components. There are limits to what can be in any particular gasoline ... but the list is still about 300 different chemicals if I recall correctly. Probably only 6 or 7 of the 300 could qualify as usable gas if isolated by themselves. Some are too light and have too much vapor pressure like butane (and would have to be stored in a pressure tank), some don't have enough vapor pressure (would have to be pre-heated to start the motor), some are too thick, some oxidize into varnish and gum too easily ... but most are just too low in either knock or preignition performance (which are not the same thing) or both, to us as a base (high percentage) of a gasoline mixture.
Its sort of like candy bars or sausage ... if there is enough sugar and cocoa oil or enough pork fat and spice , the amount of whole insects and rat turds can be ignored
You might say the different octane rating tests (aviation, motor & research) would be like how spicy a particular soup would be for different markets. What would be considered very hot in New York would probably be considered spicy but mild in Saigon or Tokyo. A soup that was the same hotness might be good in Tokyo and too fishy in Tijuana. I have tried more than 10 mix's with av has 100LL and marine gas never got a better performance than with straight marine gas , and I feel marine gas ( no ethanol ) runs better than standed pump gas , next year I'll put on my mask and muck around with some other stuff I have been researching that shows promise in CMH .

Where am I going Sam. Easy, everyone is looking for an alternative to what is out there, including pump gas. Power-Mist is an alternative just like all the other fuels that have been mentioned. But, like I said earlier, ALL the other fuels use Power-Mist as there comparable fuel. Why should someone purchase someone elses fuel when they can purchase the original. Power-Mist is flattered that they are the best and ALL other fuels want to follow. REMEMBER: IF YOUR NOT USING POWER-MIST, YOU ARE FOLLOWING SOMEONE WHO IS!!!
