Hurry! Under 1hr on this new 15hp Mercury AXSR/AXSH motor
Add this:From what the boys across the pond are running in JT250, (15HP Yamaha 2 strokes on 11 foot Vee hulls) they are telling us that the Yammy will eat a Merc for lunch. I say add them all to the mix and go for broke.
I guess you don't understand "Stock" racing ... Stock racing doesn't want to add a motor with a major speed advantage over existing motors ... it would obsolete all existing racers' equipment and make racing more expensive for everyone.
I respect your insight, and learn every day we are in racing from tons of all who have ever responded to some of my off he wall sometimes dumb sometimes good posts.........So, let me elaborate for one second, not with any intent to begin an arguement. Last I checked, stock racing, means just that. If a factory made fishing or pleasure engine is made as it was, in production, not specially formulated for racing as the factories did during the 60's/70's, it means stock. And I don't mean relabeling a race engine as stock as Merc and OMC did so many times during that era. I mean a fishing or pleasure motor....Specifically, the 15HP 2 stroke Yammy was just that.
No mods done to the motor, means stock. Hence, with the engine dilema looming present and more so over the near future, what would be so wrong with running any factory built fishing motor 15 cubic inches or under?
But as far as the term "stock" would go, if you look it up in the dictionary, there are over 60 references simply spinning from the word. If you read APBA rule book, they reference various engines "allowed" to be used in stock classes, and dictate how that engine is to be raced with the engine allowable specifications. If they don't include all stock engines within a size class, considering current availablilities, considering current EPA knit wittery, they are limiting all possibilities, which, at present, should be looked at if for anything, the ease into and smooth the operation of the sport. But, folks with barrels of spare parts for specific allowable engines may disagree...
When you reference being happy (I will assume you mean happy racing stock classes) the feelings of being happy can easily co-exist with being frustrated. At present, as an almost outsider looking in, I see obvious solutions to problems that can be knixed before. These solutions however, are never even given a chance, shot down by many.....
If something that could work is not ever allowed to be tried open mindedly, you defeat the one solid answer everyone who has ever offered help continues saying. Test, Test, Test....My grandfather had a gold lief plaque over his test tank that bore the inscription "One test is worth a thousand expert opinions"
Dissallowing any engine that could work...Hence, my happy frustration. And if that engine would be a runaway, there is always the accursed restriction plate, and with the Yammy, the guys across the pond use a reed cage with a smaller opening...And it works. So there you have it. My fully disclosure of "happiness" in the sport, and my frustration seeing the sport stuck in the proverbial box.
No modifieds or Pro classes for us.....YET......
There was/is no disrespect on my part intended in my response, so there shall be no knickers getting into a twist resonding to my answer to Sam, either in this thread or in PM. If you respond, leave specific answers WHY and don't just shoot my post down. GOT IT?????

That's the specific answer, no put down intended.
If you can explain how and why adding a faster more powerful motor gets around this, please do.
No riot Tom and if you see anymore just post them as I will. The J Division has grown more in the last couple years then any other classes and should continue to do so. Some just want to fix something thats not broke.
Destiny is a matter of chance,it is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.

That is a fact George. Just human nature I guess. As an FYI I have prepared a grant request from the Historical Society for additional "J" propellers as some Regions do not have any.
Cool Bill each region should have a set atleast where there are alot of J's. Might be a good idea in the regions that are in the off season now to check the props and any that are questionable be sent back to Craig and be checked and be reconditioned if need be.
