Phil McDaniel had one of the 25XS prototype mids as well. You could sure tell it was rough-finished if I remember that was a while ago when I saw it.
As a collectors piece great, Heck I would yank the top off and drop a 25XS P/H on there faster than you can shake a stick and get another 25 racer on the water. That's just me LOL.
You could build one for a lot less, find a 10-15HP fisherman, a mid and tuner from tad and a gearboot and gears from Jerry and your on your way.
Heck take the new Merc J motor add a real mid-section and gearboot (25XS) with a 10XS tuner plate and make a competitive Jpro, A-Mod. then you would have an actual J motor with a little COG on it's side. Is that not what we made the mid-sections for, to be universal. Here is an A-mod / FAH motor waiting to be used. The mid housings are in stock and there are 25 (25XS) gearboots in Ill. brand new. This is sure way of getting the Merc back into ASH, using the same P/H as they are now, just on a much better lower unit and mid-section.
that LU is different then the one pictured at the beginning of this thread. Looks like a A/B/C quicky or somethin... choudl it have been changed or did they offer it with that as well?

Whoops!! They put the wrong gearcase on the 10XS. It was originally equipped with the 25XS lost foam gearcase, not the 25SS style as pictured. Just my 2 cents. R.T.
Gott'a git Matt to finish/machine those 10XS adapter plates!........he has several cast....Anyone else interested?----He would like a min of three sold to git'm done........
