No, no cracks, the picture is just a little fuzzy.

This motor is different from "regular" Mark 75's in some way very visible in this picture.

        hmmmmmmmmmmm

Besides the ports looking small. it looks as though the sleeves had rotated
        Don't laugh.....it's borrowed!!

No, its more obvious than that. The appearance of the sleeve being rotated is just a little camera lens distortion/shadowing.

You guys are looking waaaay tooo close.

            I'll Guess...

Ported the same as a Mark 55-H. As, if I'm not mistaken, a Marathon Six was a60 Cubic inch motor, or 1/3 more of a 55-H...

Oh! A Three Screw Port Cover...

Interesting...It is a three screw port cover block but is a two screw cover in take port block.. CIRCA 1960, which would have made it a replacement Mark 75-H block...Six/Four port cover motor, three port cover screws!!!

              That's my guess!

                # of port covers

Its a very late mark 75. It has 3 port covers like the Mark 78. My dad has one too. Otherwise I never would have known either...

                  Simple

Old Merc intake ports are usually round, but those pictured are oval.

Ron is right ... a replacement block. All post production replacement 60 ci blocks were the same 3 cover casting instead of the original 6 cover version.

Porting is normal ... by the time the 6's were being made, all Merc ports were oval.

                      Hi Sam,

So where can I acquire a legit 75H? I know if anyone out there is in the loop, it's you.

?? for you , the 55-H engines, were the intake and exhaust ports raised 60 thousandths
higher than the 40 H.P. fishing engines ??

                          That is correct.

I know of no 75H's or parts for sale at this time, but a number of lower units have gone unaccounted for as some collectors have aged ... you never know when something will pop up.

if anyone wants a mark 75...especially if it is join our FE ranks...I'll bet I can hook you up with a powerhead and any parts for it you might need. I would think a Bass gear foot would handle it.I have a "secret" source of all manner of merc parts.

Standard blocks or blocks already converted for racing?
