I personsonally don't feel the FEH class has a completely optimized rig out there yet. There's NO weight requirement!
I think a 150 lb driver (Welch) in a 100 lb boat (carbon, no lift) with a FULLY modified lightweight, lowered 45ss could kick azz.
There's no question the 3-cylinder can make more HP. But the rig needs to handle and it's all about power to weight ratio. Most FEH guys are bigger and all about HP. Most boats are heavier than they need to be. And I've seen several that can't make it around a course very well.
Palmquist wins with good driving and he is one of the lighter drivers and has a newer boat. He's probably not making as much HP as others... yet.
