  • Blown motor is close to done:

Here she is, my last years motor freshened up a bit.......... Drew Backlund of Spokane did all the engineering and assembly of this 427. In keeping with Nostalgia all the blower hardware and ignition is period correct and also sports a stock 396 steel crank with modified scoop oiling system and added cooling system efficiency. Venolia pistons, Scat I beam 600 long rods, Comp roller 500 lift cam with Ford firing order, stainless Ford roller rockers and finally Vintage 1960s Corvette closed chamber square port stock cast cylinder heads.

This motor is estimated to run 700 horsepower on pump gas and pull skiers all weekend with no problems or tuning woos! Most important, last a long time like the offshore powerboats do. Drew has built may 700 mile race engines with much success.
The manifold at the bottom had to be redrilled so I could install my 1962 Joe Hunt Magneto and also accomodate my Vertex Mags. These units allow you to return to base even when a total electrical failure happens on the water! My new cat Maggie is named after them, they all make their own SPARK.

No dyno (waste of a good engine)

my boat is the perfect dyno! meaning its always loaded and results can be seen on the GPS and tach, but the class I run is limited to 80mph so there is NO need for more! Hense the supercharger keeps the cost of torque down. No fancy cyl heads, cam, carbureation, etc. I should be able to match anyone pulling out of the corners with way more invested. If, not, I change the pulleys and hang on!

              Snout drive?

Flywheel driven Geek, like its supposed to be! I dont want riders in the back seat have to deal with blower belts AND velvet drive transmission is optional with this mounting. $600 new pan is also the wrong way! My snout drive hardware IS available.....

snout drive is fine for circle boats in SS or PS, this is Nostalgia or Vintage with limits on the boats ability and the drivers common sense. 80 for me.

At 5000 rpm it will hit app 90-100 with the 29 gear, pump 92 and 32 degrees advance! A ski motor Mr Hoffman.

                      I'm also an excellant driver.

I may have to make my skideck a SKI BOAT ..

I may have to give you some competition next year in the ski boat class. I have a ski boat that will run 70 or 80 with me driving , not interested in going 90 , don't have the kahunah's . Jimmy D.

You going to run with the legends of PNW Nosties

We might as well start talking smack , cause you know Jerk will eventually. That Backboard engine he had built won't stay up with Five-O and me even if we both only go 70. Just saying. Jimmy D.
