          Races

Is there a race between the APBA pro nationals and the stock nationals? Might be fun to run a few NBRA races this year......

Check the schedule in the first page of this thread. It has all the dates, as it is updated and as more are added or moved, etc. I do not know what the dates are of the races you are asking about, but if you do, you can easily see what is on the NBRA schedule and make your plans.

Questions on membership, 2013 NBRA races, & Lucas Lake

              Hello,

I am going to join USTS this year and fill out a NBRA membership form for 2013. Since I have only driven PRO hydros for the last three seasons (I sold all of my C Stock/OSY and C Mod equipment back in 2008), what category do I check for joining NBRA as an USTS member? I tried to connect to a NBRA website through my browser search engine and found a .com website that said it was available for sale to a new website owner. Is there any information available on the Internet explaining what specific fee(s) NBRA wants the USTS PRO members to pay for this trial season?

Will some 2013 NBRA boat races like Trout Creek include any opportunity for a few PRO class heats?

I am also really excited about your boat racing agreement negotiations with Lucas Oil in central Missouri. My wife has two first cousins living in Springfield and my grandfather (on my dad's side of my family) moved the family out west to eastern Washington from that region of Missouri in the late 1800's. What are the width/length dimensions and average depth of Lucas Lake? It is hard for me to "guesstimate" the man-made lake's size from the oblique aerial pictures on the Lucas Oil website, but it looks to be about 1/2 to 3/4 mile in length. Very cool! My concern: Is the lake's width adequate for a full field of high speed Mod or PRO category hydroplanes running on a traditional oval outboard racing course?

                Al,
on the NBRA application you only have to check off Pro catagory $20 plus your USTS Membership. Both are on the title series page. I didnt see any other info.

                  Mountain home ar

We have moved the date up to June 14-16. It will be a Short Course Nationals. We are still waiting on U.S. Corp of Eng. approval. The sponsor will be the Mountain Home, Ar. Chamber of Commerce. Great race course and great people who want to make you feel welcome.

Follow the links to the NBRA website, found on the front page of this site.

Also, if you simply do a thread search on this site, you will find all kinds of pics, and videos of Lucal Oil and the race we conducted there last year. Short answer, yes it is wide enough for Mod & stock. But you will find a lot more detail if you just search this website, and you tube maybe for a lot of interesting video and pics of what we did there. As for your other questions, contact the conducting club for your answers.

Al, the "lake"at the Lucas is 400 ft wide. It's pretty tight for the turns. We used two buoys at each end and they were placeed close to one another (say 15-20 Ft apart). Course length is not a problem. Plenty long. The turns are a challenge since most folks are use to wide swooping turns in the stock and mod world. Some benifit can be derived by making the entrance pin somewhat closer to the bank thus allowing a little more room on the exit side of the turn. Essentially ,canting the straights off somewhat from being aligned with the precisely straight shoreline. We limited the DMod Hydro to seven boats and had no real problem. Only had one misshap and that's when one of the guys hooked it in the nothwest turn (for us which was turn 1) and got hit by a guy trailing him. We set the course so that we were going NW on the run to the clock. That put us milling at the southeast end Jack
