As a 36 year retired major airline employee travel by air today just sucks.

Back when I flew you got a ticket from the travel agency and then showed up a hour early and checked the bag in and went at sat down at the boarding area after going thru the gate.. That was it and a full meal was served on the flight and all drinks were free except beer and mixed drinks..I GUESS THOSE WERE THE GOOD OLD DAYS THAT ALL THE OLD RACERS TALK ABOUT..WELL IF THIS IS A MAJOR HASSEL THEN IT WILL BE THE FIRST AND LAST TIME FOR ME.. Oops I hit the wrong button..Oh well

When you set off the metal dectors and they take in the back room and pat you down good. There are no areas off limits !

Mike H. is right though, once you get a window seat and enjoy the views taking off and landing it makes it a little easier to handle. I have to say, the approach to Glacier Nat Park airport was some of the best scenery I have ever seen in my life.

The smaller airports might let you take food from home on the plane, the ones around me will not let you through to the gate area with any outside food.

Mike, the Salt Lick has the best BBQ known to man in my opinion. If you have not been, go to the real deal in Austin. The smell alone will make a grown man drool all over himself. And the gals in short shorts and cowboy boots are not half bad either... hehehehehe.

We have a room and rental car..Just saving up for airplane tickets.. So how many Louis L'amour books do I need to take for this ordeal??

Yes it does, Bill. I dont know if you plan to attend any meetings this year, but the APBA meeting is 2 miles from Mom's house and I plan to attend both APBA and NBRA meetings....just FYI
