You may check to fly into Springfield, usually more expensive.
Would be a bout 15 miles from the airport

We did Mark and they want $250 more per round trip to fly into Springfield..It sucks to fly into smaller towns.. That doubles the price of our ticket..Rental is much cheaper

Have you looked at Branson, 35 minutes to Springfield.
They may call it Springfield /Branson airport.

I would much rather drive in a blizzard but not enough time.. I never cared for flying back in the 70's and still dont really want to.. Maybe its because I worked for Boeing for 14 years..Plus all the crap I see about the hassel of getting to the airplane now adays

You could probably drive by the time it takes to fly.
I can drive to Dallas from Tulsa, faster than I can fly.

                            See You There

There certainly is plenty to talk about. Pivotal year for us. But my bet is the meeting still will only last a short time. We really don't have a thick rulebook to mess around with, and most of us get cranky when we cut into the beer drinking time.

Mike, flying is fun, you get to spend hours sitting in the airport admiring all the pictures of Glacier Nat Park on the wall, spend 20 bucks per meal for breakfast or lunch, spend 8 bucks for a beer, and then get your body frisked when you walk through security. Oh, and you have to go barefoot too when you walk through the scanner. They might let you wear socks, I don't know. Oh, and wear pants that don't fall down, you can't wear a belt through security. No liquid over 3oz in your carry on either, and abosultely NO outside food or beverage. You HAVE to purchase it at the airport, inside the security zone. Then once you are able to board the plane, the real fun starts when you have a couple traveling with a baby that has to sit on their lap. Eat well before you board, as the small bag of peanuts or pretzels is all that is free, and one coke. Liquor is expensive on the plane, usually ten bucks. And don't forget, most airlines charge you 50 bucks or more just to check a bag. And that is one way.. so if you plan to fly home, be prepared for another checked bag fee. Does it sound like an adventure yet ? Personally I think the airlines should include a free jar of vasoline..... at least it would not hurt as much.

                              But then again

You get to hurtle through the sky in a metal tube at hundreds of miles per hour, thousands of feet above the earth. I always bring snacks from home and ask for a window seat. Don't let security BS and baggage fees take away the sense of wonder in flying.

Dave, the next time you fly into Austin you'll have to check out the F1 track from the plane. It's pretty cool. I also like to get Salt Lick BBQ in the airport to eat on the plane.
