  • Outboard Shootout at Jacksboro TX Roll Call

On September 29th and 30th The Lone Star Outboard Racing Association will host the first annual Shootout at Jacksboro. We have been working with local sponsors, and as of today have $4000.00 in tow money for the event, and negotiations with additional sponsors are still ongoing. The city of Jacksboro, and the Chamber of Commerce are 110% in support of the race, and the community is very eager for this event to come to thier town.
We would like to extend a personal invitation to every Stock and Modified outboard racer to attend this season finale and help to make this inaugural event a success, and build for a bigger future. I have attached pictures of the site, and construction of the custom launch area.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Shootout!

    Entry fee's

I would like to add that entry fee's will be $25.00 for your first class of the day and $15.00 for each additional class for the day. There are a couple of "older" hotels in town, one that is about 2 miles from the lake with reasonable pricing and clean remodeled rooms. The other one is on the opposite side of town. These are privately owned hotels.
There are however, in the neighboring town, two nationwide chain hotels if you prefer. These hotels are about 30 mins away from the lake. We are going to try and negotiate a reduced price with one of these chain hotels, more info to follow when we nail down a price. Please stay tuned to this thread for updated info as the race draws closer!

Thanks Alan, but we should have all that type of work done by then.

Actually the city will be putting down a top coat of cushion sand on top of the gravel to make it easier under foot. There will be just enough sand to fill in the gravel but not too much to make it impossible to roll the carts across it.

Look forward to seeing you there and hearing that C Mercury of yours, I can't get enough of that!!!!

                Dual Race course potential

One other small detail about this course. The lake is L shaped and so if we have wind issues on one course, we can reset the course, and run 90 degrees to the wind to reduce the chances of a blow out, however in September the winds are usually pretty favorable for us in Texas, so come and join us for the Shootout.

Just got these photos in from site

The Parks manager Jacky Hall, has been a tremendous asset to this event, and has been building a launch ramp for us just for this race. He sent me two photos moments ago with the fresh sand he has spread over the hard pack that we have put down. Plan to test the ramp soon.
                          Thanks Jacky a ton!!
