Are we going to use a clock or will we have to do a flag start ?? Does this race site have banks that will let us pit at water's edge or ramp ??? was just thinking and came up with these questions

    Andy
Yup, all those questions and more. Dennis just received the ok on this deal, so, all the details have yet to be worked out.

The esteemed Mr. Stotts Esq. is already two steps ahead of us- thinking about solutions.

The plan is to use a clock.

As Mark has said, Jack Stotts has stepped up to be our eyes and ears in the area of the race site to help work out all of these detials. THANK YOU JACK !! He and I have already discussed these issues plus a few more with the emphasis being that we are guests at this event and we will conduct ourselves as such. This is easily the biggest opportinity our sport has been given in this region in many, many years so we will do everything in our power to work within the framework of the existing event. Our goal is to be invited back again and again. I am in the process of arranging a meeting with a SDBA/Lucas Oil representative at the race site to get a better understanding of these issues and how we can make the best use of this opportunity. I will pass along detials as we progess through this process.

Thanks for everyone's interest and excitement about this event. This is gonna be AWESOME!

          15000

There is a race here in Michigan that has between 15K and 20K spectators. It is in Trenton MI, and is the OPC race. They run SST 120 and SST45. They alos put on a full stock schedule and run the stock marathon. We took Ashley over there one year to run in JH, and I have to say I was impressed by the crowds. Kind of nerve racking even for the pit crew. Problem is, pits are like a 1/4 mile from the race course, so once we fired her up we had to sprint down the way to watch the race and sprint back. It was on the Detroit river, so the course is really really rough, and has swells, not ideal for hydros, but manageable if you keep your head about you.

And the stock marathon there was a HOOT ! I watched it and they had like 100 boats crossing the start line at once, in I think about three or four lines. It was perhaps one of the most exciting races I ever saw. Wrecks were common. I still remember a DSR slipping into a swell and coming out and barrell rolling. Landed right side up in front of where I was watching. The dude came too, and swam to his boat, which had hold of from the concrete walkway, and I helped back into his boat and he fired it up and he went back to it. The crowd was into it too.

So don't be afraid to put on a good show for the crowd there, talk to each other and don't let it be a parade, race close and worry about making a show, not winning.

This comment is to OKNITRO. There is a grass area at the waters edge which would be great for us but, at this point, we don't know how the drag folks have things layed out. It very well could be where they plan to have the spectators there in that area. Also it's not a great idea to be on the beach with our rigs near the course or it's runout as they sometimes go airborne.

Pull up Marble Falls ,TX on Google Maps. The Drag course is set up just to the West of the bridge over the river/lake. They do their runs to the East. We are equipped to use a clock start but need to work things out with our hosts so we don't impede them or their spectators. Working on all the details. Jack

Thanks Jack - I figured you guys were working it out - if there is anything I can do to help you all just let me know . Iam going to work hard to get as many C-stocks from Oklahoma - As well as bring the extra boat to get Dennis on the water. And Dave , I agree with you , Joe, (My Son and race team member), Have already discussed trying to do that very thing. At Shelbyville , we only had three "A" hydros and with points needed for certain people to get what they wanted , we kind of pre-planed the race and who would win. No one on the bank knew , it was a show, they saw an exciting race between 3 boats the whole race with lead changes and such and it was fun. Iam real big on promoting this sport and doing whatever to help it grow - at least at this first time in front of a new poss sponsor , we will put on a close and exciting race as poss. Iam more excited about this race than any race planned this year - as others have said - this will be a blast !!!!

I take it by this response Mr. Ruth, you are planing on being in attendance, with your C stocker?

That means 8 boats and we have just begun...I'm sure Acme Racing will be there, and Dudley Malone would make 10...Will Hawkins would be 11, Preacher Man would be 12.

Sure would be nice to get some ODA guys, even some Florida boats...

No matter how close we keep it, last lap will be Balls to the Wall.

This will be all time classic.

On my previous post I said the drag folks do their runs to the East. I'm not sure that is correct and when I tried to run the video from Marble Falls my computer locked up. So I really don't know which way they do their runs and the direction impacts the pitting options and our race course. Jack

Hey Andy- make sure you talk to Butch Web, I'd be great to get him down here.

Remember, we also have a race at Lake Bryan on Sept. 24-25.
It's really a nice lake, and a good spot to race. And our weather is the best in late September...
