      Go NBRA!

Jeff, NBRA is providing prize and tow money. That helps out for us who have to travel a few hundred miles to a race. You have really helped racing grow. I wish all clubs did as good of a job as you have done with NBRA. We have so many great prizes. It feels like we actually race for something other than fun. We compete for $$$, prizes, and pride. I just wish all clubs would put in the money and pride that we do at NBRA. I went to Zaynesville, OH to race with APBA. I spent over $300 to race one class, came in third, and had nothing to show for it, not even a trophy. My brother, Tylane, got the same reward. I love this sport. It may not be as large as it use to be, but we have to come together and get a plan going to get this sport growing for our next generation. Keep up the good work. Hopefully we can have all clubs racing together this year for the $$$, prizes, and pride. This is the best game in town.

Shane, I have to give credit where credit is due, It is not just me, it is all of the people in the NBRA < I just just pass on my enthuseasiom for the sport , and try to steer each club and individual, in the positive direction, and try to help where I can. Like alot of us are, I am just a buget racer, and feel that we do not need to spend a ton to go racing. but sometimes it is still expensive to race, so by all you guys out there in the NBRA working as hard as you do, The money, prises and awards do offset some costs. I do know that the members in the NBRA are the finest and fastest drivers in the nation, and you all do show a great pride in what you do. you guys are hands down the best and thanks for that

          Nbra

The slate is looking good! "Centralia" is the 7th - 9th of Aug.
Thanks to Jeff and everyone working hard to make these races happen. If you have not raced with the NBRA I encourage you to mark one of these on your calendar and come have some fun, and as a bonus go home with some ca$$.

            I Wanna Come and Play

I wasn't able to make any of the NBRA races last year, but I'm pretty sure this year will be different since my wife retired and we can stay on the road a little more. It's always fun to get on the water with Kevin and Alan and Keith and the rest. I might even steal a ride in my kid's 750mod runabout if he can't make it himself. Oh yeah, and maybe you can schedule nap time on race day for Larry Mac and me.

              Shelbyville?

I would like to come over from Indy and race at the Shelbyville race this year. I'm a long time APBA member and only plan to attend this single NBRA event for 2009. What is involved , membership wise and fees, for an APBA member to race at this event?
              Thanks

                NBRA fees

                Joe,

First of all lets's say you would be more that welcome at any NBRA race. A full season NBRA membership is $80.00. You can also obtain a 'One Time Racing" membership for the weekend for $45.00 (that also applies toward a full member ship should you decide to become a full member later in the year). The entry fees are $25 for the first class, $15 for the next, and $10.00 for each class after that. There is also a $12 per day NBRA fee.

                Very affordable IMO.

                  Stillwater Boomerfest August 22-23, 2009

All, I just got word Stillwater's Convention and Visitor's Bureau has put our race on the budget for each year.... to support us with $1,500 to pay for the ambulance! (that's without having to go back every year and request it!)

This says loads about how well we are received in Stillwater, and it gives me some breathing room to raise some prize money along the lines of what Ark and Keith have been doing in Illinois. Kicker Speakers is back in for basic race support and some prizes. We'll be sharing the lake (they in the morning and we in the afternoon) with two APBA region PWC finals -- we're agreed, insurance will be separate, we're just working out details. The PWC folks may have 60 racers there and lots of following. Also, OSU will be back in session and that weekend is one the students have no outside activities like football to deal with. Come prepared to see a crowd on Boomer Lake this year. We're also working on an old boat show and some motorcycle exhibitions and pitbike race.

I have 30 rooms blocked at the Stillwater Plaza hotel (new management has fixed all the bad things you'll read on the Internet...I checked already. Plus they're kicking in a bit of money for prizes. The new manager has worked with us before.) If you're coming and need a hotel room, book it early.......... (405) 377-7010. Rooms are $70...place is close to the lake with a restaurant and bar and place for registration. Also located close to fuel, Wal-Mart and many eateries.

The increased participation will make it much easier to attract sponsors so a trip to Stillwater for Series points should be even nicer with some prize money to go with it. I'll keep you posted.

Bear in mind that the single event membership is not available for "National" events and the Shelbyville race is a "National Event" being the Short Course National Championships North and the spring (May 8-9) at Pineville is the Short Course National Championships South. I believe that an affiliated club membership is also needed when doing a single event membership. I'm not familiar with the mentioned NBRA daily fee of $12.00. Nothing about it in the rule book that I have. I am ammending this as I have been told that the $12 a day is in the new rule book. Further discussion is ongoing concerning the affiliated club status. More to follow. I'll make a new post when it all gets straight.

                      ODA races

We are going to decide the ODA race fees at our meeting in Feb. Right now they are $25 for 1st class, $15 for 2nd class, $10 for every other class. At Shelbyville this past year it was decided that an APBA racer could use the one day membership but if they won a National title they would not recieve it if not a full member. The great thing is if you come to Shelbyville or Centrailia you should recieve enough prize and tow money to cover the expense!!!!!!!

First Joe has to beat me if he gets in the old FEH/SEH. If he sticks with the 44, well... there will be some fierce competiton in that. The best of the best race that class. You have APBA/NBRA/AOF guys racing in that one.

If Josh gets to tag along he can come play in SEH with us. Shelbyville is a short course, so bring the small course props. Huge lake small course.

Dan Crummet, will the Oklahoma race be the Oklahoma format or reg NBRA race format ?

                          Boomerfest

Dave, NBRA points will be available both days. We'll combine classes if necessary--like everyone else---but the "Oklahoma Format" moniker is out. Too much confusion about how it works.

If you race you'll be racing for NBRA points both days. The Saturday Race will be for Series Points, Sunday will be for prize money.

                            Ft. Worth, TX April 25 - 26

I have the final verbal "ok" to reserve Marine Creek reservoir for the weekend of April 25 - 26. As soon as I get the paperwork from the lake authority and I have signatures on them I will update Jeff Ruth and we can change this from tentative to confirmed. I will keep you all updated. Also, Will and Becky Hawkins have resurrected the Lone Star Boat Racing Association and are heavily involved in this as well. If you have any questions or if you feel the urge to help with putting on this race please contact one of us.

                              Marine Creek

Great news Dennis. The Dallas, Ft. Worth area was a hot bed of racing in the old AOF days. In 1978 they had the Nats there. Seven Up was the sponsor $15000.00 Prize money. Maybe this will be the catalyst to get Texas racing going again.
