Propshafts & lower units

I've been using 302 units for over 7 yrs. with no problems, have made 5 mod units,,but I started using 11/16" shafts about 4 yrs. ago before I broke a shaft.I could never figure out why people want to make the shafts smaller than the factory ones!!! mine are under 44 Mercs & 45 omc mods...The shafts I've seen broken were factory ones with the front shearpin hole filled with a pin welded in then turned down to 9/16". Pretty dumb!!! might as well just throw you prop in the water...might not hurt some else....DD:

well said!
When people turn them down, they are removing the case hardening!
