44XS type port covers
David and I have gone to our machine shop and droped off the prototype modified 44XS transfer port cover that we intend to make. The price should be available early next week. The first order will be for 25 units. If anyone would like one please let us known. If there is great need for them we would up the order quanity. We also started the discussion on manufacturing the 44XS gear housing. The machine shop has the capability to machine them out of 6061T651. He inspacted my last new 44XS housing and we need to get some additional data on the unit. I have an old D housing that we can section to get some of the info. The unit can be digitized but we were hopping of avoiding that cost. Anyone know if drawings are available?

SeaWay is still around. I use a number of online parts sellers that sell Merc parts online and there are none left. I still can search the dealer network to see if any dealer might have them and no parts showed up. We would love to find some but they are impossible to find.

We have a set the you can have. I have no history on these but the top carb is missing the throttle butterfly and neither has a choke and it looks like the mounting holes have been spread out a little. You can have them for the postage.

Alan,
I own the drawings for both the 44 and 25xs gearcase and I have been down this road many times. Tad Olson was the closest I got and we were ready to do a casting the same as the new A housings that Ron had done and then machine. Your Billet cost is going to be REALLY high. The profiling of the case is expensive many many passes to make it right. the casting and then finish maching is the way to go. We need to talk about the drawings, I got them when I purchased all the remaining lower units.

Mike,
I have tons of CARBs - AJ - KA - KC's. KA21, 24 and 26 are my preferred carbs take a look at the spec sheets in the Merc manual and you will see why I prefer them over even the KC's. I can scan the spec sheets at some point and post the info. It covers all most of the ka carbs and a few Kc's I think.
