    j class props

You can take the prop out of the cost of a j set up , they are supplied to each driver at the races. The props are owned by the Historical Division and are given out on a random drawing (or hand out ) at the start of the race weekend. They are returned at the end of the race. Craig sells a prop for testing at a very good price. The race props have a unique finish so they dont get" mixed up"with test wheels. We have an Oconner "A " boat that runs well in J .James Luce ran an A boat very well in the J class. With some care and good maintanance my son can run the same package for many years to come. Where can you find a carb baffle for the omc carb? Is it ok to stuff them w/epoxy if you cant find a baffle?
Also I was going thru one of my many boxes of engine crap this weekend and found a 9.9 carb that is identical (with exception to the air bore size). After checking the rule book I noticed that it said you could only run the one carb (I forget the P/N), would/is the 9.9 carb legal? I defiantly don’t see any advantage to running it especially when you choke it down with a .5 restrictor plate!

What is the bore size on a 9.9 carb? I was always curious as to how this would run with the J as opposed to restricting the 15 carb.

I don't remember off hand I want to say .75" and the 15 carb was 1" give or take.... either way it was smaller and the restrictor plate was a lot smaller than the carb.

Ryan, I too thought about just using the 9.9 carb on the J motors, but would be a little harder to check for inspection purposes versus "seeing" the restrictor plate.......likewise without using the tuner, but that would also be hard to check for without unbolting the powerhead.........

it is just much easier using the currect rules and the restrictor plate, thus making it ALOT easier to use the motor in the larger AX/A classes (along with J) without alot of parts swapping.........same as the 302 in 20SSH, etc.......

Dean , # 1 Cool To Find A New Racer. # 2 There Is Good Used J Stuff Available. Lets Not Forget To Get Them In The Water. They Will Find Places To Upgrade And Get Newer Stuff As They Get Hooked On Our Sport. Hey I Never Had Brand New Stuff But The Ross's 3rd & 4th Stuff Sure Was And Still Is Alot Of Fun. Get Them In A Decent Boat And See You At The Races. Have Fun Turn Left & In My Case Sometimes Right.
