Don't many Stock Outboard racing motors have the original manufacturers colors/name on the sides? I don't think Stock Outboard has drawn any spectators/racers to our races because of the name on the sides of the engine covers. Maybe the manufacturers realized this years ago.

I dunno, I think PWC racing is more closley related to motocross and snowmobile racing than Stock Outboard boat racing.
How can we be more like them?(PWC) Good question.
Maybe we (stock outboard) should persue the gambling industry for backing. It works in Japan... look at all the spectators they have. And it ain't because the crowds can "identify" with the race craft!

It is more than manufacturers. You need a network of dealerships that have a vested interest in selling something that looks just like the thing that is being raced. That something has to be something that you can take down to the local waterway after school or saturday morning or any other time you have the desire. They sell a truckload of them, in case you haven't noticed.
We just haven't got the products that anyone with big bucks is interested in.
You might also notice that they sell a truckload of snowmobiles and dirtbikes, thus the sponsorship....................

Why, no Dan... Whatever do you mean?!

It is definitly the strong competition and the bright colors! We in Stock Outboard have the beautiful women, way better then the second rate girls in those links! Our gorgeous women wear jeans and t shirts, not those teeny tiny two piece bikinis, who wants to look at that walking around the pits?! Besides, Region 3 has Heather, Rachel, Jody, and Stacy, those pwc chicks don't got nothin'! And Pop, we're still checking out those pwc races next year! GL

            Can't Help But Notice

That NBRA already has something like this PWC race. The two Nationals this year had a lot of spectators, both genders. Some young, some old, some right in the middle.

Did anyone notice how close the spectators can get to the pits, and the action ? I think that is important. You let them roam the pits, see it up close and the interest level is a lot more than the distant spectator areas.

At the Long Course Nat's they had a sponsor tower, right next to the beer garden. It listed all the sponsors, and I think there was even some banners of the sponsors.

So my point is this. Why does everyone keep talking about what it should be, and who we should be like, and who we should copy and then not a dam thing is done about it. The only kneel down races I have attended that had sponsorship like the PWC is the NBRA's nationals such as this seasons. So I guess someone did put there money where there mouth is. Trouble is, nobody in the kneeldown categories seem to give a hoot about it. All they want to do is talk about how good we could be.

                  Pat,

You ever see a fly-wheel come off the top of a jet-ski?

I have seen two come off of Alkies and all I could say is YIKES!!!

Close is good; too close is not so good "during the action".

                  See you next week!

Problem is, they only want to race against them selves and do not want any laydowns, or pro hydros involved with them. We've been there tried that. They are a bunch of nice guys, drank some beers with some of them, but they don't want us. How can you support an organization that does not want you?

USTS is where it is at period! They are the Elite Pro Club in the US!

Anyone back east got a place to store my truck and enclosed trailer for 08 race season? I'll fly back and forth

                          Not a Problem

USTS does an okay job at promoting their races. I have noted that a few times. NBRA and USTS are a lot alike. No reason to make it one. Each has a program that runs about 4 - 5 hours a day, and can sell it. You combine these two and you have what is currently taking place in other categories, 10hour race days.

I guess I view it as a way to put fun back into racing, everyone talks about how much more there is at a race than the racing. Shorten your program to half a day, and increase what the majority has said is the most fun, fellowship.

Here in Region 3, our "Stock," particularly Millville, races have limited schedules with only a few Mod classes added to them. Yes, we get a little flack for having such a limited schedule, however I feel we would get more flack for having those long fully loaded race days that you guys are speaking of. A title series race is a very interesting idea for the Summer Millville dates, but that is only a thought of mine(actually Dom Difebo), not of DVORA!

We will continue to use this program at a majority of our races to someday hopefully fine tune them and have an efficient race day with the possibility of more testing, special events, 4 laps, 3 days in 2 days, award ceremonies, etc.,etc.,etc....
