I'll try to get pictures of the Rumson Regatta scaffolding tower/judges stand. Too much politicking between the PWC, OPC's and Stockers contributed to the demise of that race. In the mid 80's at the peak of that event there were 40 volunteers helped organize and run that race, which raised over $30,000(in the mid 80's) in sponsorship and award money, with the local TV Network(comcast) covering the entire weekend.

BTW: It wasn't even a national championship.

If you all want a race like the ones you see and talk about wanting we can probably do it again here in Rumson. Rough, Salty, Tidal water with 4 bouy turns, with PWC races during patrol boat change. I just need about 39 volunteers to help for about a year prior to the event. Who's in?

Ahhh ... now I get it ... but what do you suppose it is that draws that element to this type of event? PWCs are just not cool ... especially when they are racing!

Yes PWC are fun to "drive", but spectators like to identify with what they are watching. Compare stock car racing to open wheel racing. Maybe we could include some PWC in our races but hopefully only full field classes to replace some of our 3 boat classes.

Kawasaki,Yamaha, Sea doo and so on people know who they are and I'm told in some cases they run near 100 and yes purchased from the showroom floor

stock outboard could do the same thing,,,try and remember the early PWC'
they were awfull still have one and it's junk compared to new ones.

This is what my post was about even though it was misconceived.

G why are there so few Boatracers understanding this I wouldn't think a chairman who doesn't understand the consept of market forces and competition (I don't mean on the race course but in the business world)deserves the job....
