We used to run "A" Hydros & "C" Hydros together. To make up the difference The A's did not have to pit. It made it pretty even. Due to lack of "A" Hydros we just have C's. We do the same with the Runabout Classes. Lots of Fun!!!

            Yamato Challenge

I'd love to participate in a LeMans start Yamato Challenge race and take my 20SSH into the first turn with the C's. As long as I have Jack Stotts starting me it's a one-pull start. Let's do it.

Do a running start from the beach, a crew member holds the drivers boat in the water while all the drivers line up on the beach behind a rope. When the gun fires the drivers run off the beach jump in there boats and go! Thats how they do it in extreme inflatables racing

Now that would be cool and is a good idea. Would make awsome footage for TV news and helmet cam video. Could be embarrasing if my fat butt falls over and crashes through the boat deck.

Hey Greg, just rememer, I was born a Jersey boy, and part of me still is at heart. That being said, I hope lots of hardware goes back north to all you A and B drivers, but we're planning on bringing some C trophies back to NC!! You should find yourself a CSH to run in the Yamato challenge, we haven't raced together in a long time, I wouldn't mind banging sponsons with you in the first turn. See ya there.

Can I play with my CSR? I won't make the holes too big in the turns.

On a serious note, the mini marathon mentioned for us runabout guys, I have been kicking it around. Any interest with the A's if we can't get enough c's?

                        Hydro marathon

                        Ryan,

Do you remember that our old club (NSRA) ran a "Grand Prix" marathon at Sharptown through AOF? I remember Brandt Hilsen winning the very first one. We ran 15 laps, and a Lemans start with a mandatory pit stop. I worked pretty good if I remember correctly, especially with Stacy Runne scoring - she was the only one who had the number of laps right. That is the one thing that can trip you up, making sure you have a good scoring system. I didn't run in the first one because I was announcing, but I ran the second one after Brandt insisted I do it. And boy was it a blast, only thing again, was trying to keep up which lap I was on.

On another topic, I have advocated for many years now that we should somehow put together a Marathon Nationals for hydroplanes. It could easily be a lapped event as opposed to a point-to-point race. I so wish we could do one every year, especially since runabout drivers have a slight advantage in the running for Hall of Champions with gaining points for marathon national championships.

Any thoughts from anyone on this?

By the way, to Doug, I would be very interested in a Dash For Cash race at Oceee as well.

                            Chris,

I do remember that very well. We thought that I won it at first, and I had the trophy presented to me and everything. Then Stacy figured it all out right and it turned out that Brandt won and I got second. That race is still one of my favorites.

Yeah... you and Dad come up on MY judge's stand, yelling at me and saying I was wrong. But the race was caught on tape. I'll remember that

That was Dad, not me. I didn't know who was where. Dad just said he still thinks I won, even though it was on tape. He says that the tape was doctored.
