Let's send those two OPC "Drivers" to the International Criminal Tribunal for Boat Racing. That'll teach'em!

Well, when we have no boats at the race I’ll ask you to make fun at serious issues again.
PS; I had two hours phone conversation today with another unhappy very influential driver that “had” big plans for next year regarding local races and with him we lost at least 3-4 boats that he can pull to a race, plus another few racers that said no way, no more, plus even if I continue to support local racing I’m sure not going to EVER invite any racer outside of the region to any of our may or may not races to sit in the boat for an hour and race in the dark. (How many boats is that at $120 race entry fee per boat???? A lot )
And if Mod-U is scheduled at the end of the day again I’m not gonna bother ether.
BTW I’m not trying to be an A#@^& I’m just trying to save local racing because if we keep on going like this we can kiss local fun racing goodbye.
      Take it as you will.

I have read every post in this thread twice before responding to your last post and it seems like everyone had a great time except you ? Marc Johnson, Howie, Bob Dunlap etc. these are folks that have been racing for years and I trust what they say is true, then I read your last post what gives ? you seem a bit bitter and mad with boat racing in general. Hey we have all been there but your post just does not seem to fit in with the theme here which is everyone had a great time etc..

I am sorry to hear some OPC's were unhappy. Under the cir***stances, I thought the race was great.

From what I understand, Saturday's racing for the OPC's was canceled for one reason after the wind started to calm late in the afternoon. It was money. The club would have been hit with the full days sanction fee. There was not enough money to cover the cost. Unfortunately, this is what all clubs face. Entry fee money covers the sanction costs, three or four OPC races won't pay the bill.

I am sure if the OPC racers wanted to pay for that days sanction, the race committee would have let you run.

Let's face it, I don't care what category you talk about, we all need to work together simply because there are not enough of us to put on a decent race on the local level. At least that's the way it is in regions 5.

If there were some problems, try to realize these will get better as the different catagories " learn " each others needs.

Wouldn't it be nice if the sanction fee was determined by the actual classes on the water. If there were 4 OPC classes capable of running on Saturday, then the sanction fee could be set accordingly.

Tim, You Are Right. Unfortunetly When Mother Nature Steps In We All Have To Understand That Sometimes You Just Have To Make Do. If Predrag Had A Bad Experience Then I Am Truly Sorry For That. But, If We Take His Comments Which Might Seem Overly Negative And Turn Them Into Positive Criticism Then We Can Learn And Make Things Better For All. Nobody Wants To See People Not Enjoying Their Sport, So Lets Continue To Stick Together And Progress Towards More Successfull Races. What I Have Noticed Is That The Opc's Events Went From Disaster On Saturday In Frostproof To Being Much Better On Sunday Thanks To Peanut's Meeting And The Resulting Communications. If Mother Nature Had Not Intervened In Jesup And Threw Us A Curve Then It Would Have Been Even Better There. Everybody Just Relax And Continue To Communicate In A Positive Manner And We Can Have Some Very Good Region 5 Races.

Sorry, guys. I would have been there if it wasn't for a few problems that came up. I was looking forward to seeing everyone once more before the season was over, but I guess I will be waiting til next year. I'm glad MOST everybody had a good time at the race.

I havn't heard any isuues yet that couldn't be negotiated. The OPC/Stock marriage is the first sign of things in Region 5 looking up in quite some time. Lets not lose any drivers over issues that can probably be worked out through negotiation and compromise.
                      We've worked through easier problems.

Keep showing up! The rest is academic.

In SEPT we ran a CBF/APBA combined
inboard/outboard race on the St lawrence at Long Sault, 1.5, 2.5 5l, SO/MODS, two pits, they crane launch, we beach launch, mostly they speak French, we mainly English; and it went off without a hitch, non stop racing!; -but we were blessed with good weather, and super officiating. Full time course judges/rescue helps a lot too.

And of course the French must have given up quickly and those who raced lost and gave their boats to the Germans?

                            Hi Doug,

I've seen pictures of your boats from time to time, and don't they all have a French flag painted on the side? ; )

                            All in fun,

I guess it sort of does. Maybe that's why I never win.
