We've got wood for you. Let me rephrase that and say I will have a boat that you can use for axsr.

I need to take a lap or two to verify. But am bringing the trailer in anticipation. If nothing else, it is only about 2 minutes per heat and I think I can do that.

                        Brewster Report on Oshkosh

Our teams split up this weekend due to Hurricane Ernesto. Jeff Brewster race team headed west to Oshkosh, Jon Brewster race team including Jack to the east to Lock Haven. Since there was no racing today at Lock Haven I will report on phone call Jeff just made to me from the west. Justin Brewster placed 3rd in AXSH after winning both heats but BG one heat so it put him back. Like they say "you gotta be there". In JH Justin was out front both heats with Thomas Allen but they both jumped the gun. What's with the gun jumpin' out there?? Ryan Brewster's motor overheated, bad impeller suspected, but since he did well the first heat he was still able to pull out a 5th place, not bad Rookie Ryan. Thanks to everyone including Jeff Sheffler for helping to get this motor back in shape for tomorrow. Jeff Brewster placed 2nd in 25ssH behind the infamous Joey Zolkoske, and our 5th "son" Steve Warnock placed 3rd. Jeff B. stated this is one of the shortest courses he has ever run on but soooo much fun. Competitor extraordinaire Joey Z. even loaned Jeff his second best shortcourse prop to help him out, and they wonder why we stay in this sport!! Kudos to Jeff B's wife Christine driving the team and rig from Gary, IN all the way to the pits in Wisconsin, she's a real trooper. Jeff had to get off the phone as everyone was getting ready to go to Fred and Linda Hauenstein's for their soire` tonight, they are the best people...we all know that. Thanks Fred and Linda. Good luck everyone out there tomorrow, and be safe. Joan L. Brewster

                            Kevin,

Can you give us any more details on how the race went? I'm curious how my nephews did on Sunday.

                            Thanks,
                            Jerry Brewster

Jerry, were home and drinkin' lots of coffee!!!

We made it home without a single problem this morning at 4:30 am. I am a little groggy for some reason! lol
What a great race in Oshkosh! So hard to describe but I will try.
We made it there at 3:30 am and slept a few hours. At dawn with the fog barely lifting, my sons and I woke up and walked out on the dock to look at the race course. Pretty much all we could see was a small pond with a marina to the left?
(Visions of the 78 nationals came to mind as we had to pit in one place and drive out of the bay to the race course far away)
Just then a voice from behind us said yes that is the race course you are looking at! It was Bill Pavlick with a big smile. He said he remembered his first time at Oshkosh and couldnt believe it was the race course either.

The course is alot like Waterford Ont but reversed. A capitol "D" shape but you start on the curve side. (the hell with staying straight in the chute, just maintain your lane!) Oohh, and the only other difference from Waterford is you could fit three Oshkosh courses inside of it!

Now if I was reading this I would have to say, this place has got to suck! Sorry, you are very, very wrong. They call this the "Bristol" of boat racing and that is so correct. Justin, Ryan and I talked on the way home how amazing it is to mill all over the course (you have no choice) and the water smoothed out instantly. In my 25ssh it was a 3 to 5 second run to the clock!

The boys and I sat in the turn one turnboat yesterday watching Billy Hemp kick some booty in his CSH. I did not have a stop watch, but counted....1, 1000, 2, 1000....
AND I MADE IT TO 20!!!!!!!! YES, 20 SECOND LAP TIMES! HE WAS FLYING AND THE SPONSONS ONLY TAPPED THE WATER A COUPLE TIMES!!!

After 34 years of racing ya think you have seen about everything. Region 7 proved me wrong. Now I wonder how many possibly great race courses I have driven by in my area that I scoffed at??? Maybe Trora needs a "Bristol" too!

I was terrified of trying to make it thru Chicago due to the stories I have heard. We went thru the Skyway at 11pm on the way there Fri night and about 9:30 last night with out a single problem! I actually cheered when I saw the signs for Gary, cause I new we had made it.

Sunday's racing brought myself chasing Joey with his own prop again, what a blast that was. I told him I have never had that much fun racing second! You didnt dare make a mistake with another past 25ssh national champion, Steve Warnock breathing down your back! It was great to see Mr. Zolkowske's smile as I returned his propellor creation and told him how awesome his prop was. Jeez, I wish I could have kept that prop!

Justin got the gun jumping out of his system on Saturday. To be honest, he was so close every heat. I heard from the judges stand that he jumped by a pickle in the last heat Saturday afternoon. He nailed them in Jsh Sunday and won back to back heats which was great for him due to Saturday. AXSR, he ran second I think and AXSH around third after pulling his kill switch in heat one at the start. He was so mad at himself, that he was able to start his own boat for the first time!

Ryan got a great start in the second heat and ran third most of the heat until leaving the inside open for the faster boats to get by. In only his fourth race, he pulled into the pits with a great big smile!

We did not race the two JSR's that we brought since they had enough to race and we spent the entry fee's anyway on the toll ways. Well over 65.00 was spent in freakin' tolls. What a rip off!

Well I cannot sign off without thanking once again those wonderful people that made our weekend the best of the summer.

-Joey Zolkowske, for busting his butt on this race and loaning me speed!
-The entire race committee! You ran these races like true professionals!
-Warbie, for not passing me, omc a fuel line and gasket eliminator
-Ron Thomas and TJ, a lesson in gear foot rebuilding that I will never forget!
-Hemps and Hearns our pit neighbors and boat lifters!!
-The Olson's, for parenting moral support.
-Jeff Scheffler for that much needed impeller that put our new J driver back on the water for Sunday.
-The Hauensteins and their wonderful dinner in their beautiful home.
-And the rest of you Region 7 guys and gals that made us feel so welcome. We could have raced on white caps and still want to come back next year!
-And most importantly I must thank my wife Christine who is still asleep as I type this. She drove our ridiculously oversized rig most of our trip like a real trooper, chased kids all day and lifted boats till she was sore and didnt get to race a single heat. The first boat on the jig this fall will be for her or I am in trouble!

Actually, I thanked her early this morning as we wandered thru Kent. I told her that this race renewed my energy for boat racing and made it fun again!

p.s. get well Jennifer, we are thinking of you this week as you recover!
