We are working on a resleving of two mercury mark 20-H blocks. We will post photos if anyone would like to see them. They will be broght back to standard bore. So far everything has gone well with the sleve removal and were ready to fit new liners in the block. Once the first two are complete we will also post prices for the repair on our web site. www.aeroliner_boats.com
Thanks
Alan
Alan,
I would be interested in seeing some pictures of the work. I also have an interest in getting a .015 over 20H block of mine with a butchered bore job resleaved back to standard bore. If I can't get it resleved my only other option would be to use a Mark 25 block. Would you be willing to do the work? And if so, what kind of turn around time could I expect and how much would the cost be? If you would post something here or send me an email I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
I tried to go to your web site listed above, but it appeared to be down (Firefox couldn't load the web page).
Attached are the blocks Doug Kay did for me. One was 0.43 over and the other was 0.30 over. He then finished off the ports and bottom end to factory specifications. Each block is different, Doug goes thru the entire block to make shure all the threads are ok, etc. The correct web address is www.aeroliner-boats.com Alan left out the dash, oops.

Thank you very much for posting the pics, your correct web address and for your help. Much appreciated. I will contact Doug about doing my block.
David an I have been givern an old Speedliner M-810 Marathon Special frome around the 1950 era. The boat is in real sad shape but there is enough of it still left to draw up some plans and make some patterens. We got the boat from David Harrell in Florida and it had been sitting outside for years. We hope that we can start builing the boats again. Our first one will use some parts from the original boat if we are lucky. We will also save some screws from the boat and use them in bots we sell. We think that the boat is from the 1950's era plus or minus a year or two. One we build the first one we will run it with my KG9Q at antique meets.
David Harrell is building the Hal Kelly boats from plans he bought years ago. If anyone is intrested in a boat let us know and we will give you his contact info.
Alan
I am interested in the Kelly boats David is building. Does David have any photos or a list of what he is building?
Please provide an email contact
Thanks
Pete

Does anyone know if the 60J Crankshadft is different thean the standard Merc 60? Also the flywheel?
We are building a spare power head from a basket case and I have two NOS Merc 60 cranks. We are planing on building a J boat for the grandkids to start out with.
Here are a couple photos of my 1959 mercury mark 55-H undergoing restoration. We have found that it is hard to find good replacement parts to restore and run our engines. To help all of us who need reasonably priced items we have started to make reproduction parts. Currentl we have 100 "D" cones and bearing carriers being produced. They will be sold with and without the bearings and seals. We will also start on the A,B, and C sets for theses lower units. This will be followed by water pump cartridges which we produced years ago. We also have lower unit restoration services that are being done by Doug Kay in Detroit. We can save almost any mercury quicksilve lower uint.

new at posting but here is my fist race boat about 1962 dave bryan
Well cost is a variable and depends on how much machine work is required to rebuild the engine. I have Doug Kay do all my four and six cyliner engines. If the engine is sound with good pistons and bearings you can expect to spend at least $2500 on an engine. I think when the 1959 55-H is complete I will have about $3500 into it which includes parts but not the engine. Most of the old parts that were cad plated have now been nickle plated. All hardware has been cad plated though. Currently my brother and I have 14 four cyliner engines being restored. We do all our own two cylinder engines and build A through D Speedlier stock runabouts sold as Aeroliner Boats.

David and I have started our reproduction effort for the A through mercurcury Quicksilver racing lower units. Our first undertaking is the the cone and bearing carrier for the "D" foot. The prototypes were made by digitizing a brand new cone and carrier. The parts have been made from aircraft grade 6061T651 alum and are an exact duplicate of the original. We will do the A/B/C cones and carriers. This will be followed by water pump cartridges, prop shafts and other items. Our goal is to make them available at a reasonable cost. Currently we can offer the items bare alum or anodized for slightly more. We will post the price once we understand all our costs. We should have 100 sets of the D items by Friday. The new original one is the plated item in the photos.
We have started production of D propshaft tailcone nuts and the D bearing carrier for the propshaft. My original NOS parts were both plated in what appears to be a gold Cad plating. What is the feeling, should I have the parts plated? If everyone is going to polish the nut is there still interest in having exact reproductions? Attached are some pictures of both the original and the prototype we received today.
