  • NBRA has great line up

    NBRA has a great line up with record breaking tow money. Estimates and actual tow money per event;
    Tunks Alexander, La--------------------------$3,000
    Clarksville, Ar.----------------------------------$7,000
    Grove, Ok---------------------------------------$3,000
    Alexander, La---------------------------------$10,000
    Centraila, Il--------------------------------------$3,000
    Claremore, Ok.---------------------------------$8,000
    Jacksonville, Il.---------------------------------$6,000
    Jacksboro, tx------------------------------------?
    Alexander, La.-----------------------------------$2,000
These are individual sponsors, collected by members of NBRA. What is remarkable about this is the lakes are the finest in the MidSouth and it is possible to have addition prize money and trophies at these events.

Looks like Alexander. La is becoming the center of NBRA races, thanks to Randy Mathews and Alan Van Whele who have worked hard to get these races at three different lakes.

I have some ideas, as to why most knee down boat races in the East does not have prize money or tow money. As We race both APBA and NBRA, we can observe both race formats. First, the actual races are not different. I think the racing is a little bet closer in NBRA because you only have to win by a foot, as in most races there is no times are taken and points are given to the heats. But not a big deal. Second, you most go sell the event as entertainment bring tourists to the town. Third, you must be talking to a group that have money to give to you. We stage multiple day events that help sell motel rooms. Lastly, if most funds come from motel tax, and your town fills those motel rooms regardless of your event, your dead in the water. High population density, makes it more difficult to get contracts for our events. Good luck, it's a delicate balance, getting the good water and TOW money.

Herb if you quite racing, we want first chance to buy your prop. Even Joe could pick up speed with that wheel.

With the NBRA racing season moving to the LBRA opening event in May we have arranged for an NBRA room rate with two hotels in Alexandria, LA. Both hotels are fairly close to the Tunk’s race site. The room must be booked by May 7th to get the NBRA Rates. The links below will take you to the hotel web sites.
The Ramada Inn has given us a $55.00 rate and is good for all room configurations. The phone number is 318-448-1611.
The Best Western has provided an $89.00 rate for a King bed and a $99.00 for two double beds. The phone number is 318-445-5530.
We would like to recognize the GAEDA board for their assistance in helping with the details of putting on the race.

The race site will be at the Tunk’s Cypress Inn which we have used before.
The two hotels listed above will also be the same hotels for the short course nationals in July. The club would appreciate it if all the folks use them for the two LBRA races. Any question can be addressed to Alan van Weele at 337-304-0379

There is a cloud hanging over the Whats up Doc? Race team. Braxton will have a MRI next week on his knee.

Jacksboro race is a GO! Contrary to some rumors that were being spread around, the City of Jacksboro wants to hold the race even after I explained to them about the scheduling conflict with the change in dates with the Jacksonville, IL race. Even though these two races are now back to back and we realize that this may very well affect our turnout the City still wants us there and is ready for the race. However we do need to try to at least have 15 trailers show so that we can still put enough boats on the water to create a show for the community. If we can't get at least 15 trailers we may have to cancel so please plan to try to attend. The park is in great shape and the lake is flowing over the spillway. The EMS and Fire Department dive team are planning to do some training just for our race. Please put this race on your schedule and remember our race is Labor Day weekend so that you'll have the Holiday to travel home.

what are your insurance NBRA requirements when setting up races. distances for out of course markers, spectator viewing distances, having to fence off public playgrounds, additional insurance needed from food vendors, ambulance company?

how much orange fence do you have to put up to "protect spectators"?
