Hello- Wanted To Get Some Info On Any Regulations Or Restrictions On 15 Hp Omc " A Stock Motors " . We All Know These Are Abundant Motors To Find In Homes And At Marinas. Is There A Date To Date Or Serial# Issue. Any Info Would Be Great Help...

I believe the legal motors are 1986-1990. There is a formula to interpret the serial number, but I'm not sure what it is. The 9.9 and the 15 are the same except for the carb. You want the 15 carb. Legal powerheads are 1986-1991. Complete legal motors are 1986-1988. The formula for determining the year uses the word "INTRODUCES" with I=1, N=2, T=3, R=4, O=5, D=6, U=7, C=8, E=9, S=0
For example a motor with the serial reading E15RCD
E stands for "Evinrude"
15 is for 15 horsepower
R stands for rope start
C=8, D=6 or 1986 year.
(This example is actually the most ideal A stock motor)
