There's a long history of racing in the Finger Lakes region dating to the very early outboard motors. Pat Davids is probably the best current source of info since his family has been involved since the beginning. His grandfather raced in the first Seneca Lake marathon in 1929 I believe. Pat and his family have pictures of Gramps, well known to all of us kids in the late 1950's early 1960's. Ask Mitch Meyer about Gramps Davids and his coon hounds. Pat can be reached thru his son, Jerry. Leigh Furnal would also be a good source of info as he has mentioned earlier in this thread.

This was a stop on the Underground Railway and I saw grave stones inset into the floor, a tunnel entrance down to the lake and a hideyhole designed to be blocked up with stones to look like a cellar wall ; all by candlelight. Spooky but great !

Too bad I can't remember the name of the lake.
Hey Rumley, Was it named Silver Lake. Would have been close to the Oswego area.

Sounds like the California ranch on honeoye. There also is a house in town that was part of the underground railroad

Dew: Not Silver lake . When I raced there in the 70's the only structure was Regan's Silver Lake Ranch. I drank a beer there once,

Fred Nelson and I , running 25SSR banged into each other all the way from the lining pin, through the start and to the first turn. Fred was on the inside and I couldn't knock him out of the way so he won. Pat Davis was the referee and came down to the scales to tell us he should throw us both out but it was too much fun to watch. Don't be so obvious next time he said. I did like Pat.

FJ: Maybe Honeoye. I did run there once or twice.
