Amen, Tara. I can count 9 of us off the top of my head in NBRA with legitimate legal B class engines. Just haven't all made it to a race this year.

Sounds like the proticipants have spoken, and made their case. I am all for leaving it be, and stop messing around with weights, and changing for the sake of changing. Hopefully this forum discussion puts a little perspective into some of the changes that are rumored. We don't need changes to accomodate a high points chase. Until new engines are adopted, I feel the NBRA did a pretty good job at combining what was current, and raced often. We offer competitive racing for pretty much ANY engine that any organiztion runs. The only exceptions are the 15 CI OMC's and Merc's, Not enough of them in NBRA to even have a class, hence why it was removed from the rule book as a class.

I'm open to increasing our numbers. The 25 mod class was a bust, we were the only that built a new one. We find that it was One mile slower than a C mod. We were the only one that put one on the water. Others also found it slower than C mod. To move a B into the 25 mod class is not going to work for the same reason the 25 failed, it's just much slower. At Mt. Home there was a great race between Dan Koska, in Mod. 80 and Braxton Miller in a OMC 22". Dan won by .2 of a second. The wt. for a 22 omc is 35 lb lower than a mod 80. This was truly a even match. The c runabout class has been a no show too. The C runabout is a great class for big people that does not want to the expense of a Tohatsu or the complexity of a Mod. Mercury. But many have chosen the Tohatsu.

Truly I feel the only thing that is going to help the C Runabout class grow at all is a decrease in weight limit. 475/465 for the actual C motors in the class kills it. Sure it isn't bad for the bigger folks... But I know that it kept me and about 5 others from ever participating in it over the years. Far too much to be adding to a boat to meet that. Would have been putting the boat in jeopardy.

To increase our numbers especially at local races, what do you think about making a restricted 302 legal in the B class.? It is legal in the A class.

For those who are reading this thread, re read my first statement. I did say I wanted to change the rules or do away with a rerun of the A class. We are deeply invested in the B class, with 8 really good motors. No one in the U.S. Has more invested in the B motors except Sidewinder. I value the practice of running one rig in four heats and I hope John comes out to race with us, it makes you better to have competition like Tara and John.

I think that would start to get too confusing, honestly. The unrestricted 302 is a legal B Runabout already.. So the allowance would literally only be for use in the B Hydro. I think it would require us to add too many small notations and explanations to a rule book that is already a bit too difficult to translate at times. I still say to just leave it all as is and if it becomes a legitimate issue in the future.. THEN and only then should we look to change anything.

I will probably get slammed for this, but I am going to say it anyways. NBRA is NBRA. STOP trying to make it like the other organization with a gazillion rules, a gazillion restrictor plates, a gazlillion height restrictions, a gazillion questions on how to interpret the rule book. It is not wanted, nor will it be accepted to make changes in that direction. I am positive the majority of the NBRA members agree with this.

Finally!!! Thank you Dave for saying what most of us (NBRA Members) were thinking! If you want to be like the other organization then go race with them but leave our rules alone.
