That is correct. It was possible to meet Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Marshall Grant at some races. I think they even played music at a race at least once.
I had the privledge of meeting Johnny Cash and Marchall Grant over coffee in Nick Marchetti's kitchen on a saturday morning about 30 years ago. They drove up from Baltimore, where they had played Friday night.

I went to a number of races in my first couple of years racing where Marshall Grant was there. He didn't drive but had Billy Seebold as his driver. They ran Konig stuff and did real well.
For other interesting tidbits about him and Marshall, check out some of the threads on boatracingfacts.com. There are a lot of old pictures and stories. And by the way, his music is a racing staple. Can't say I've been to a race in the last couple of years without it.
