  • Race for a Cure

On Sept 10th and 11th the Eastern Cananda Outboard Racing Club will be hosting it's final event, the 6th annual Eastern Ontario Hydroplane Classic. This year we will be donating the profit's (once we cover race expenses) to the Cancer Society. Each year we lose friends, loved one's and fellow racers to this disease, so why not come out and spend a great weekend of racing and at the same time help make a difference.
We have stock and mod classes scheduled, along with the J class. There is free camping for racers, in one of Ontario's most beautiful provincial parks with hookups and showers etc..... So if you are looking for a great end of season race to chase those last minute points or simply want to have a weekend of fun, then plan to head to Long Sault, Ontario and help us raise money to Race for a Cure.

For more information Contact Bob Abbott via email @ bob.abbott@sympatico.ca or visit the APBA website for sanction details.

Here is the aerial view of the race site. It was taken during a race and you can see the boats in the center if you look closely.

This is a beautiful spot to race, and a great spot to spend an extended weekend. Free camping for racers with hookups and showers, Saturday night party, all the good stuff for a great weekend of racing.

What a dynamite deal! The fight against cancer needs many more of this kind of fund-raiser. Proud boat racers are in the fight!

for those racers looking for a motel, the Long Sault Motel (sponsor) still has some rooms available. Call 613-534-2546 and tell them you are a racer so they know we are supporting them.

Thanks Bob for your hard work. I for one, am very proud to be apart of this race. As most of us know someone or lost a loved one to this. R.C. is smiling at you for your committment. I'll be there Fri. to help in any way possible.
Will there be a seperate donation box for those that would like to give a little more for the cause?

              Region 2, 'Triple Crown'

The upcoming race at Long Sault, ON is the first of three sucessive weekends of racing in the north-east, with FLRCs Crystal Lake, and the new SORA site near Albany, coming right after. Smart racers, or at least those of us retired, and with time on our hands, stay over at the Long Sault Park for the week, taking advantage of the fall rates, and move on to C'Lake [about 70m] Friday morning for testing. In fact, if one wanted, we could test at Long Sault during the week, as there are boat ramps in secluded little bays. Its also a short hop to Albany from C'Lake.
We can arrange to store your trailer in ON or NY then you pick it up the next
weekend, if u really need to drive home
So, if you think you are fast, there is 2400 points available/class in two weeks of easy racing.
