what is the "prefered" type of carbon fiber used on say cockpit sides, dash, etc? What type, bi-direction or uni-directional? What weight: oz/sq yd?

there are to different types of the kevlar/carbon hybrids. one type has the kevlar running in one direction and carbon in the other direction. the other type has the kevlar and carbon running in both directions. the hybrids are more than just for looks, the carbon actually helps hold the kevlar together since kevlar does not bond well with resins.
I avoid using kevlar in my boats for only one reason, kevlar gets all fuzzy when you cut or sand it, making it difficult to finish edges or make repairs. save the kevlar for driving suits, prop gloves and bullet proof vests. spectra has very similar problems as kevlar.
