    to Brian Cafarelli

Very well stated and a very good job of using rational thinking with your explanation. It is just too bad that everyone can not express themselves as well as you just did.

Hydroplay, take note and think before you blast people on this forum. I think people have had just about enough of your mouth over the years.

I recall a simular story from 10 years ago at a race in lake alfred, Florida. It was the first heat of C-Stock hydro. We were coming up to the clock and everyone was early except for me and Brian Palmquist. Brian was on the far inside with his orange and blue hemp and a huge, huge fin and I was on the far outside. Brian and I outran everyone to the first turn and I outran Brian to the first turn as well. I left brian a lane and slowed down to wait for him so we could have a good friendly race, but Brian came in that turn wide open and that "boat design" would not hold unless that huge fin hooked up and it did not hook up. Brian slammed into the side of my boat, puncturing a hole in his right rear chine, my boat and design did not have any damage at all. Anyway, after that we both kept racing and I pulled away from brian and won the race by about 10 seconds.

After that heat, brian yelled at me along with some of his friends. I basically said that if he could not turn that thing then he should not drive it.

So, was it boat design or driver or both? Sounds like the same story to me, just a different time and a different place.

Just another side of the story from years past.

        To bad

The Mod Nat's are better forgoten in my eyes. Unfortunately things happend that can't be reversed.

Sam, I hope you throw away the measurments from the boat you so measured up that I built for FEH in Ocoee, I wish you have done the right thing and designed your own boat that works. You can ask Brian if the boat holds the corners from the Zanesville race. Had I not not made a mistake in the back stretch the outcome could have been different for Divisonals.

Since you were not at the Nats you are not capable of being taking a side other than what you hear from your hired drivers. So I will dismiss your comments.

For the record, the set up I chose to run in the FEH finals at the Nat's was uncontrolable. I have had terrible luck with gearboxes this year and I was not running my usual stuff. I simply went to support the race as it is the Mod Nat's. Rather than risk an accident I backed off and let them go.

As to discredit anyone's name, you should know by now that sticks and stones break bones, but names never hurt. People have called you everything but a human over the last 30 or 40 years. I raced a B&H J Hydro, perhaps the best J boat I ever ran. Thanks Sam for all the kindness over the years.

Everyone have a fun and safe rest of the season.

Agreed on you first point. But I'm pretty sure that Sam didn't measure your FEH. The boat that Brian drives in FEH isn't even a Hemp boat. So there really wouldn't even be a reason for him to measure your boat.

By the way, we were talking about your dad in DMH not you FEH so I fail to see your point.

Agreed, I was just telling another story that had to do with "Boat Design" comment that Hemp made. Also, I have had others tell me that hemp has measured mason's FEH boat that I built trying to figure out how it turns so well, but then again, that was the FEH not the DMH.

                    Stone in a D again

I vividly rememberSton winning a heat at Lawrencville Pa with his turn fin up.
Those were some exciting races, Stone ,Maloof , Weinandt, Matt De, Jackie Mitchell, Van sickle, Armstrong, . the class could use a recharge like that.

I think the ones that got any photos traveled from Franklin to the stockers race. At least anyone who has digital anyways. We got some film pictures, but have not developed them yet.

It has always been hard to get good people in the turn boats to make the hard calls.

There are many "old drivers" around that would work the nationals, myself included. Charge the $ and pay the workers.

Not much else you can do. Nothing ever changes.

As far as the accident goes, I didn't see it. But I did talk to Richie and Scott, Lyle was bearing away. But that is all irrelevent, things happen on the race course. But the scene in the pits afterward was disgraceful. Lyle's uncontrolled behavior was way out of order. His disgustingly vulgar rant when he was brought back to the pits was a ridiculous scene. And Dave's threats were entirely uncalled for. I for one was very dissappointed that Dave was allowed to race the next day. These two men need a good lesson in sportsmanship. Brian, who was the one taken out, far outclassed these two in the way they handled themselves afterwards. Lyle and Dave should have been immediately expelled from the pits, and beached for one year for the their behavior. Hopefully the MOD commisssion will meet on this in the near future, as this situation should not go unpunished.

okay, first off, this is Allie Runne, not Ryan. Second, I was on the judges stand when DMH was being run. I was scoring so I was more focused on the people going across the starting line than anything at that moment. But I did see the crash, it wasnt real obvious to me what exactly happened since I didnt see Lyle bearing away, but I did see the two boats hit. And as for the turn boat judges..I believe they did what they were supposed to. After the boats and Lyle and Brian were brought back to the pits, they drove the turn boat over to the judges stand and told us just what had happened. They seemed very sure and we took their word for it. To me they did just what they were supposed to. Now, the whole "comment" thing just kind of pissed me off. Crap that happens on the race course should NOT be brought into the pits. So what? Lyle kind of screwed up..I'm sure he regrets it, but it happens. The call was made and that should have been the end of it. But some things were said that went unnoticed by the race commitee that should've been dealt with. I think that Brian handeled it just like he should have. But threats like that shouldnt be made, and I hope that theyre dealt with in the future. Thats all I'm going to say. Hope I didnt offend anyone.

And I'm sure everyone in the pits was watching FEH the next day very closely. Charlie Gonyea had the red flag ready "just in case"...

                                OK Guys,

Since hanging up my helmet I have started playing paintball of all things.

I have since started a business making and selling custom paintball guns.

I attend paintball matches 3-4 weekends a month where people pay someone at a minimum $45 for the day to use their paintball field, then buy form the same people paintballs at an average of $65 per 2000 balls. Some people will shoot 4000 balls a day. All this to shoot their paintball gun that they paid anywhere from $150 to $1500 for.

In paintball this kind of behavior would get you shown the door with no chance of a return on your money, with no chance of coming back, EVER.

I agree with their policies 100% and have helped remove people who have violated that sportsmanship rule.

And just think this is for a sport that it is almost impossible to seriously hurt, mame or kill someone if you loose your cool at the wrong moment.

Sometimes I'm really glad I've hung up my helmet.
