Dave- Hope everything goes well in the healing process. I have known you since you and I were in diapers. What the heck were you thinking about driving a runabout!!!!! You are in our prayers and hope to see you in Centralia. I have told all of my friends you would supply the Labatt's
Dave,
I didn't see it ......but I sure heard it back in my pit. Hope you're not too sore to fix that new boat of yours. That is a sweeeeeeet looking ride. My prayers are with you.
Racer 20-P,
Brent Simmons
Talked to Dave this afternoon and he is in great spirits but in a lot of pain. The xrays have all came back negative, so it seems that as soon as all the swelling goes down and the bruises heal, he should be in good shape. Told me his elbow is the size of his knee and his left knee is even bigger. Also took a good shot to the chest and that one hurts a ton. I think the quote was "it is like I got in a bar fight with a football team and they left me in the gutter when they were finished. And the garbage truck back over me".
But he seems to be on the mend and is looking forward to seeing everyone again soon. Is already kicking ideas around to make the runabout faster. He should be back on the 'net in the next couple of days.
Thanks for the well wishes. I am typing this one handed, so sorry if it is not coherant. So far the arm is swollen and painful, but getting better, the knee makes it tough to walk well, but I am managing, the ribs and sternum hurt like hell. The pain meds make me feel good though. They actually knock me out. I am heading home in a little bit from work, as it is time for a pain pill. I am hoping to get back to work tomorrow, but I am not sure.
The blowover was due to some driver miscalculation and wind. I should have known better than to sit on the transom, but on the second lap when I rounded the point the wind caught me and I could not bring it down, rest is well fuzzy. I know the boat landed on me, but other than that not sure.
Thanks again guys for all the well wishes, this is why I love boat racing.
Dave, I hope those pain pills are taking the edge off. Man that sucks. Makes me wonder about the E runabout we just completed. Maybe we are supposed to be hydro drivers. Man, I am looking forward to pitting with you guys at Centralia, I know you're tough enough to be back in fightin' shape by then. By the way I bought a toy hauler, so we are camping at the lake, so it could get major leauge ugly in the evenings. We're all thinking about you buddy get well soon! Bryan Tharp
Thinking about you and hope you're on the mend. Runabout pointer #1 - Don't sit on the transom until you get at least 3 laps on the boat. Patch that puppy up and I'll see you at Franklin.
Don't feel bad David. Every new kid that rids a bike falls when we take away his training wheels. Remember a runabout is a hydro without the training wheels. Hope you get well soon. Mike
Still on the mend, but improving, I am at work today..... but the pain meds, something good, makes me feel better than any drunk I have ever had !!
I will be at Constantine this weekend, but most likley will have a driver for me.
Mike, I fell one time when I took the training wheels off my bicycle, but I got right back on and showed that dam bike who was boss. I plan on that with the pointy express as well ! After I fix it up of course ! It is missing a few parts at the moment.
Again, thanks to all of you and your well wishes. I look forward to seeing everyone at the races. I also took notes on who said they would buy me a beer...
Hi Dave:
Glad to hear your doing O.K. I look forward to seeing you and the family at Lockhaven again. Selfish reasons- I need you and pop to pit for me again. Thats got to be worth a bunch of beer! Get well and see you at the races.
That will be a change, as I recall we supplied you with the beer last year !! HA !! Yes, I accept Labatts Blue as payment in full for being your pit b*tch for the weekend ! Not much to it though on those little old 250cch's though ! Think I might have to sneak purple paint on that orange somewhere though.......
This mean you're planning on Loch Haven again this year and Dave, if things continue the way they are right now for me, I'll bring a couple of lawn chairs and we can sit around and be pit directors.......
