Sunday report: 12:30 PM. Weather: hot, sunny & gusty.

20ssH- 23 boats! ran today: 1st-Kevin Ladd, 2nd-Brian Trolian, 3rd-Dana Holt. Nate Forshey was one of 3 or 4 who jumped the gun in his elim.. Harry Danforth looked strong in his elim w/ his brand new Bezoat. Travis Pond dumped in his new Bennett. I hear it's a beautiful boat.

    JH - 10-12 boats! Amy Nydahl was real fast & took the win with a 4th & a 1st. She ran a Hemp w/ a Merc.

125ccH- yet to run today. I heard Billy Allen warm his up on the phone. That was cool! I hear there are 8-10 125's.

Outboard racing is alive and well!

          Report from I-75 near Chattanooga

Via cell phone from somewhere near Chattanooga, TN:

Tons of boats, warm temps, and HIGH WINDS being the highlights

ASH, 20SSH, CSH with about 20-24 boats in each class.

Top finishers by memory only (not official, so if it's not correct don't blame me)

ASH - Kevin Ladd, Gary Lewis, Mike Hauenstein (1-3)
BSH - Tom Sutherland, Ed Hearn (1, 2)
CSH - Kevin Ladd, Dean Sutherland, Scott Clark
          DSH - Dan Hauenstein
20SSH - Kevin Ladd, Brian Trolian, Dana Holt
          25SSH - ??

          ASR - ??
BSR - pretty sure it was Andy Anderson w/ the win
          CSR - ??
          25SSR - Jerry Davids

          AMH - Ed Hearn
          BMH - ??
          CMH - ??
          DMH - Dan Hauenstein
          FEH - ??

So, who can fill in the question marks?

They are back racing on much better water Saturday.

Mike Cook was the other driver involved in the 25R incident. Guess his new boat is tore up pretty bad.

Steve French went over in BMH this am. He's okay.

They're gonna be racing all day to try to catch up. They were running CMR at 10:30 am. Hopefully the water will stay calm for them.

Forshey's B Stock was only a broken ignition wire luckily.

I'll try to find out about the FE's. Not sure since they haven't run yet. It was really cool (yet depressing) to hear "all boats are legal" in the background when I called.

                  More later,
                  Jerry Brewster
I THINK THAT MANNY DIAS DROVE MIKE COOK'S BOAT IN 25SSR IF MY MEMORY SERVES ME RIGHT.

                      Some results

Here are some results that I am pretty sure of:

                      25ssh - Joe Z.
                      BMH- Scott Clark
                      CMH- Brian Palmquist, Eric Vanover
FEH- Brian Palmquist, Dave Mason, maybe Rich Palmer third ( Hunter blew his over at the start of the first heat. He had a big knot on his forearm that he said he was going to get checked out when he gets back home)

DMH- Lyle Mason was second. Brian Palmquist might have gotten third running his DSH. He and Steve Dunn got together in the first turn of the first heat and it took out Brian's left sponson and side.

FAR - Brian Palmquist might have won. I think he had to have run the most classes.

CSH - Second Elim heat was where Joe Pater destroyed his new boat when he and Paul Hooten got together. Gary Lewis also flipped, but thankfully no one was hurt.

20ssh- After Joe Pater destroyed his new CSH, Kevin offered to scratch so Joe could run, but Joe wouldn't let him. Kevin ran Pater's stuff in CSH and 20SSH.

DMR - Steve Dunn( I think), George Luce ran really well in his Artralite.

                        Homework ?!?

That's what my wife does day in, day out...

Ladd did nothing. He just lucked into some good equipment (thank you Joe Pater) and some starts. It made up for my 3 2nd place finishes last winter in CA.

More impressive was Amy Nydahl's JH victory. Nice save.

It was so rough we were all just 'riding', not 'driving'. There were so many crashes the judges stand ran out of incident reports Saturday.
And it was really too bad what happened to Brian "brain-wave" Rhodes... thoughts and prayers are with you buddy. How 'bout an update from you WI guys...?

                          arltralite's in ocoee

Steve French ran in b-mod and 25-mod I think
Mia Camacho had her new boat out in b-mod
Paul Hooten jumped the gun in 20ssh elim.
Kevin Fitzgerald ran his c-mod boat in b-mod, packed up before running c-mod. Kevin also ran his new FEH, had motor problems.
Hunter Grimes drove his FEH up a roostertail in the shoot. Hunter is pretty banged up but the boat is fine.
Charlie Gonyea wrecked a prop in the big wreck in CSH elim and jumped the gun on the restart.
George Luce hit a bouy in his new FER.

It was a tough start to the season, there had to be 20 boats in the pits needing repair.

Hunter and Brian, get well soon.

here are a couple of pics

Don't let Ladd down play it!

                            KL,

Of course you had some top notch equipment (and boat ), but putting together that many heats in that type of water, with that many boats and the level of competition is a hell of a job. Congratulations!

Looks like you'll have to find some more races to go to during the "off" weekends.

Congrats to all the Winter Nationals Champions it sounds like you earned it.

                              Corrections to Racer4s

Just want to make following corrections to Racer4s posts--realizing there were so many racers there:

                              FEH: Larry Terzinski took third
                              DMH: Larry Terzinski took third

It was a great weekend of great racing!
