Monday I stopped by Lake Buhlow in Pineville, LA (Alexandria to a lot of people) on my way back from New Orleans to see what all the construction of the new bridge has changed. I've been going to Lake Buhlow since the mid '70's. That was my favorite place to race. One mile course and plenty of room for milling and making a long run to the start. Plenty of good pit area.
Some room was lost up on top of the hill due to widening of road and lost a little pit area at the west end (couldn't get pictures of that). They filled in some of the "arm" that ran south towards the road on the west end of the pits. The area where the sheds were up on top of the hill has been taken by the road. Still possible to hold boat races there. It just doesn't look the same anymore. Kind of like when they cut down the willow trees that used to be on the shoreline.
