Matt did weigh in at 365 at Grass Lake and we tested all day Monday and the very best we could see was 56.5 that was at 1-3/8 which is now 1-3/4 and the race speeds have dropped to 54.5 under race conditions. Who in there right mind is going to spend that kind of money for the Sidewinder to run in the middle of the pack. I have got beat plenty of times by the good OMC's. Every time a change is made its cost even more money to run one on top of what is already been spent.

it is strange at grass lake I as well tested mon at 57.2mph with my omc which was 2-tenth's off my testing speeds at home! when we were in the finals I run
56.4 mph's and watched matt pull away from me going to the first turn and further once to the corner the sidewinder has better excelleration through the turns which should be expected with a 2 cub advantage never the less this will be tested come spring. if it is found that the omc. has the advantage we will change that as I too do not believe the omc. should be faster but here in Canada I will be the only guy running a sidewinder at this point,If I am dominate it will ruin the class that is already good and competitive, ask most of the drivers in A.P.B.A. what they would do in that situation the whole sport is to fragile at this point to take that kind of risk! hey that would be another good thread to start?
wouldn't it be interesting to see what the opinion is from a "A" drivers point of view?
like I said we will try to make it as close as possible which will be difficult!
I do not see the advantage of eliminating a engine do to age! hell will can still put a full field of 20h's on the water and there 60 years old !!! just saying

          hey mike
thanks a lot for your comments, we have confidence that we can make this work! it will be a lot of work but in the end should be well worth it.I am hoping that maybe this would have some thought south of the border probably not in its entirety but maybe we will see what happens never the less it seems to be a good way to use the new motors without interfering with other classes that are well rooted in the sport. Not everyone will agree but it is a start as the new engines are just starting to take off up here we already have 4 commited to the new "B" class and one "A" so far it is a start. thanks again Mike

Graham would run his Sidewinder likely if he had a boat to put it on, haha. no more ASR here and it doesn't fit his ASH. Especially if there was another to run against.

                George,
I watched and lent some props to some of the guys testing the 15 rods at grass lake in 2011 and they were seeing 63 mph and then proceeded to go out and win they're elim heat easily.Last spring a lot of you guys posted on this site that the drop of 3/8 of an inch was 2mph.We hear from more than a few A winder crews that they are seeing 59 plus testing so using the math that 3/8 is worth 2 and you can jack the a up 11/4 we think 4 mph gain may be done.As to the 20 rod going 70 I have one and Rob raced one for a couple of seasons 10 years ago and only saw 66 to 67 and our new class requires you to drop it down to 1/2 inch at 400 lbs so we think it should be close. As Rob has stated before none of this is in stone , as soon as the ice clears we will be testing all motors involved and we will post all results on this site.I have been at this sport for over 35 years and Rob has been at it on and off for 25 years and we will listen to any input or data from anyone who is willing to help. Thanks for your input , any further help to push our great sport forward would be greatly appreciated.

Ross I have raced the Sidewinder A motor for the past two years and know exactly how much you can get out of it and when the Sidewinder 15H model wouldnt run with the Hotrods which has bigger ports, 4cc less head and a way bigger carb Im sure the A Sidewinder wont run with them. I have 4 Hotrods and they will run circles around the A Sidewinder and I have tested it on my B hydro at A weight and its a good 1-2 mile an hour slower on the bigger boat which it would have to be run on at the higher speeds.
