I recall when many y102 owners were very concerned that the 302 would make anchors out of their 102's. I can recall the 2 years probation, the C-2 class etc. The only place we could run our 302 was OSY.

Last time i checked Stock Outboard was down to the following classes:
ASH
ASR
BSH
BSR
CSH
CSR
DSH
DSR
25ssh
25ssr
20ssh.......largest class.
302ssh(new class)
That's 12 classes and the 302 is legal in 5 of them. The Sidewinder 20ci is legal in 4 classes. So what's your point??

Very true. Then they wanted to make the 302 a class of it's own called C2. I went over the top at the SORC Meeting. I also told them about the cooling problem that we could not run at 1/2 inch. Took over 15 years for the SORC to lower the Height to 3/4in. The BIG Bad 302 turned out not to be a threat to the 102 as all the owners feared.
The very same thing is happening with the SW.
The plan to rename the 20ss or Combine the B class is a good one. A step towards getting back to the Basic A thru D. Keep the 15cu Hotrods only. Heck it is really a local class anyway. Now the hate mail!!!bill b

I was the one who made the proposal and pushed hard to get CSH class lowered to 3/4" to SAVE motors from burning up (both 102's and 302's). And it has worked!! When i tried it in 20ssh a couple years ago the midwest boys tore me apart and swayed the commission to leave it at 1/2". Oh well.
The idea you suggest of combining BSH/20ssh is interesting but 20ssh took on a life of it's own from the first day it was introduced in 1970 something. It is along with CSH the largest classes in APBA. Instead of 'dismantling 20ssh' perhaps we should be looking at the working model of why they (CSH/20ssh) are so successful and build off that.

Wonder what the breakdown is of the 112 wet 20ssh boats that competed this year. I bet:
Yamato 80- 60 drivers
Yamato 302- 40 drivers
Yamato 102- 4 drivers
Sidewinder 20ci- 8 drivers
