So sorry to hear of our friends passing. So many memories over the years of Howard and his kindness. Never forget Howard, after he retired from racing, a conspiracy took place, when in 1100H a driver, Nic Nothe, took his number and changed it to R-12 for the nationals without Howard knowing so. I got Penny to make sure that Howard hung around the PA booth when the class came up. He sat next to me with tears in his eyes when I announced the R-12 number on the course, grateful that those of us who loved him, would have him in our thoughts. Penny we loved him, and are grateful for your loving care you provided to him. He made us better than we could be on our own.

        A true Hero

Living on the West Coast as a child, I was blessed to know Howard. I loved the area and Howard was the example to live by. I hope I can live a life to compare. Love you Penny and family!

            More Howard history

Bruce Summers sent me some memorabililia on Howard and asked me to post it for him. There are 2 pictures , one from the 1988 Pro Nationals and the other from 1999 , and 2 letters on the 1990 APBA elections.

Anybody know where Ron Hagness is these days, and if he has heard? Ron in his Goff hydro and Andy in his Marchetti, both running Quincys, had some heat-long deck-to-deck battles in D Hydro in the late Sixties that will be remembered by any who saw them.

so sad to here of Howards passing. i remember when we won the worlds at lakeland FL. after the win u.i.m. tried to take the championship away from us because of the way it was handled . Howard fought for us tooth and nail and finally they gave us the win under u.s.a flag . and it was because Howards determination and because he new that was the way it should be . he surely was a gentleman, always a smile, and he surely was a friend to every boat racer and there families.he treated everybody equally and fair never said anything bad about anyone. he was a great and wonderful person. yes indeed he will be missed by all. larose family F33
