      Eric,

Are most F500 boat some type of modified tunnels? I've never seen one in person. but they look very different from most tunnels. Lots and lots of transom set back, maybe measured in feet instead of inches. They look to be like a Mod VP boat type design. But it's hard to tell from photos.

        Mark,
I could tell you, but its secret
actually, they are a development of the original early 80's Russian Hydrocat. They still use a center pod, like a modVP. A mod VP boat had a deep pod, perhaps 100% or greater of sponson depth. Current f500 boats are about 70% sponson depth.

Yes, the transom set back is measured in feet, oops, metres. I'm not quite sure why, i'm just the photo guy.

          Guys,

as Eric correctly said, the F500 boats were until very recently all based on the Fort design. This design derived from the Russians when the sport was state funded and they had a proper "team" complete with shady looking minders. A lot of time was spent locked away at their training lake where the design was honed......... when Alexej Ischutin visited the UK to compete in 350 & 700 Worlds he flipped twice and as the t.v. footage showed he deliberatly rolled into a ball as he exited the craft (it was in the days before cells) as he had some experience of pushing the boat to the edge. There were rumours and tales that in that year he had flipped the boat over 40 times - you don't know how fast you can race it if you don't test it properly!

The latest generation boats to suit the GRM/VRP etc are now more akin to mini-tunnel hulled boats. These craft are fast, and it will be really interesting to see the performance of this new boat.......

they are built by Matt Arlt, out of Kingston Ontario. Great boats, I run a CSH and it is an awesome ride.

Thanks for the info I am looking to get back into racing and am in need of a new boat or kit to build. I have a 350 Yamato alky thats been collecting dust for about 20 years that is going to need a hull to power. First I need to find it a new piston and sleeve for it.

don't hate the player hate the game

please ,Looks more like a flyer and as far as i know there is no osy tec craft that weighs is under 100 lbs. or made of carbon fiber. and it does not have the pugh copy cauling on the front like the new tec craft design. I have seen the first tec craft he built in his shop and understand why he would change his design to copy someone else
