Its pretty simple, really. Just think of it as two different classes. It's like a kilo record in CSH and OSY-400.

pretty sure that record was "gloves off", no fuel restrictions, etc............JDubs record was really an actual "competition" speed record, with H1 rules and regulations............actual race setup.....too bad the water and weather conditions were not better, as I am sure he would have gone MUCH faster..

This is obviously a prop driven boat, but is it turbine or piston engine?
If piston, then the UK, and likely UIM record he is breaking,
is that set by Donald Campbell Sr.,
back in 1939 at 141.7, at Coniston.
In 1945 Campbell renovated the Blue Bird K4
with a De Havilland Goblin jet engine.
The experiment with jet-power was not a success
          and Campbell retired from record-attempts.
          He died in 1948.

I doubt in any one outside of the US,
has tried to go that fast with pistons, since 1939.
Is the current APBA piston/prop record not Hawaii Kai at 194 in 1957 ?
