It is a know fact that the round is better then the point! Science has proven that the round profoile will increase the hydro speed by .00012875 MPH if your C MOD can run better then 100 MPH! Also all the boats look great! Next season will be great.
Thanks Sean, the only thing the 15 degree temp does is slow down the final finish process..
For the finish I tried all the real super expensive finishes but what works the best for me is Ace Spar Varnish.I have gone back to it this year.It holds up the best for ME to the UV rays. I use to spray everything before I started building these boats but now to avoid the overspray hassles I use a good grade foam brush.

Do you thin the ACE varnish? If so how much?
Ever tried a foam roller and tip off with a sponge brush? Realy gets the varnish on quick.
I have also done the trials with the expensive varnish and get good results with Minwax Helsman Spar varnish.
Looks good
What material for the black bottom?
"Keep Move'n" life is catching up! No man's life, liberty or property are safe while the legislature is in session.
Put the epoxy on today and for the concerned ones the pickles have a inch and a half radius and are break away soft balsa wonder if I can get a rebate back from the insurance company for being to safe....lol
Affordable and works very well. I also like Minwax Helsman varnish, faster drying and during that last coat the water is calling me name . . .
Nice pickles, George! I did balsa tips as well, and would cover them with light 1 1/2 oz fiberglass.
My latest build, launched Dec 9th for a test spin. 15' 8" long, weighs a tad over 40 lbs. 4mm hull, western red cedar strip deck. I think full out sprint speed might be 5 knots. Not exactly eye watering

No I do not thin the varnish and I have used foam rollers with the varnish before but enjoy just using the foam brush and it really does not take very long..
I will be using Pettit one part epoxy finish for the bottom and top..It will be applied with the foam roller and tipped off. This stuff really levels off and leaves no sign of brush strokes. The only down side is the color selection is limited but you can buy two colors and mix you own combo
