Getting the first reports from the National Meeting

From the Safety Meeting this morning:
1 - a new minor release will need to be filled out at each race event for every minor (racers and non racers). No more yearly release.
2 - Barrier/ caution tape is no longer accepted to out line the pits. Pit or snow fencing must be used along with posted signs stating the restricted area requires a signed waiver and wrist band. Also wrist bands can only be on the wrist (no more hats or shirts or whatever).

    That is all for now.
The Commissions are in session right now.

          Caution tape wont cut it?

So what do we do at Big Rapids? I am pretty sure we cant put up a mile of snow fence?

I'll double check with the President but put DVORA in for 10 as well. If they don't cover them, I will.

              Dean -
Time to buy another club trailer to haul snow fence to the races.

                Good idea

Maybe APBA should purchase a company that makes snow fence. Side note, badger state might be ok because Pete Nydahl has a trailer big enough to haul all that fence! Somebody will have to haul all of Pete's boats to the races though!

I have worked in the capacity of "Race Management" at Indy Car and NASCAR events. I have worked in the restricted area called "Hot Pits". These truly are "Hot Pits". And I have to say that I don't think a bunch of trailers and boats sitting around on boat carts on the lake shore or riverbank can be considered "Hot Pits".

To me, I'm in the "Hot Pits" of a boat race when I'm in the cockpit and two guys (oops 1 guy and 1 gal) are knee deep in the water lifting my propeller out of the water and a third guy is ready to crank the engine. Yes, you need to sign a release and wear a wristband to go into the water. But up on the shore - just a bunch of BS.

Stock/Mod/Pro's issue is seperating cold and hot pits with a fenced barrier, could be extremely challenging for some race sites.

I bet the ticket you purchased to get into a NASCAR or Indy race is your insurance waiver for the event, they just get more $$$ to be closer ( IE pit pass).

By your own definition the actual "hot pit" of a car race would be the pit (box) crew area and the race track...just sayin'.

Way to go, keep the few people that come out and support powerboat racing behind a fence. I understand this method for high powered top professional motorsport where crowd control and other issues are a concern but I see this as a huge blow to grass roots racing where the dad and his kid who want to get in and take a closer look.

Keep up the good work APBA *sarcasm
alienate the few folks that still come out.

Before all you blow a gasket on fencing I have a question; Do any of you know what the fencing issue, wrist bands and K&K dropping us have in common and why were in this situation?
