$25.00 extra for 2012, $25.00 more for 2013, etc etc etc.

Why is there a big diffrence in prices from APBA and NBRA?

I believe the USTS is it's own organization-an affiliate club that runs APBA races, but recognizes it's own points and races individually. One must be a member of the USTS, not just APBA, to qualify-and their awards are not officially recognized by APBA. They carry their own prestige. I don't really know what I'm talking about but I've been to a couple Alky races. I'm sure someone who knows something can say something of value on the subject.

P.S. Why isn't 'of' spelled 'ov'?

P.P.S. Am I the only one who thinks that jewelry advertisement might just be a little bit offensive to some? Just wondering.

Good point on the "ov". I always thought it should be one-teen, two-teen, three-teen, four-teen, five-teen... to go along with the rest of our number system.

Are you talking about the advertizing on the left hand side of HR? That's direct marketing at its finest! Advertisers put up advertizing according to what's “relevant” to you which is determined by where you have been on the world wide web in the recent past. For instance, for me, it shows a discount for Kelly Paper on my screen because I looked up the phone number for Kelly Paper last Monday.

This now begs the question, why is there jewelry showing up on your screen? Hmmm…. Any guesses?

As for the APBA dues, APBA is the premier boat racing organization in the country, no question, and you’ll have to pay for being a part of that organization – Walmart vs. Costco.

I just signed up for Stock/Mod/Pro/J/AX/OPC/IB/RC and UIM, can I complain about the cost?

It's not my computer-that explains the jewelry. You'd laugh if you saw it though. Also explains why Jimmy Johns has been advertising here.

The USTS is its own entity, but runs under the APBA Banner.
There is a point system in place for USTS awards and a Banquet (this weekend in Chicago)
Cash and a Nice Jacket are just some of the yearly awards.
                There are also specialty awards.
Only Pro equiptment is run and there is always a tesy day (Friday) and classes only run one day. This we feel is best for the spectators, drivers and officials.
Unless weather interfears racing is over in about 4 hours.
When possible there is testing before the races on Sat and Sunday.

This idea was started over 20 years ago for several reasons I will try and list a few.
                1. Pro numbers are minimal so combining regions and travel became necessary
if you wish to race against like equiptment.
                2. When racing with multiple categories days were to long and many times there were few in the same classes in short it was a mess.
                3. USTS is selling a specific show and more often than not there is sponsor money around $10,000.00 allowing for tow money for those who apperciate it.
                4. USTS has limited Pro classes and set schedule that is rarely changed.
We believe this helps increase numbers because you know well in advance what and when you can run.
                5. The stigma of old that alkies never run, we believe running our way helped remove this issue. Testing and repetaive racing as well as inovation has allowed in the last 20 years for the Pro's to be more reliable and faster than ever before. We have no slow adult classes everything runs in the 80's or above up to Sean 130 mph run two years ago.

Its working and we will continue on the path we have set so come to a USTS race near you and see what we do.

Still waiting to hear what Insurance costs for an NBRA weekend race.

                      And what are the benefits.

                      Thx.

First I want to say I have a VERY limited "travel budget"..APBA's races are the only ones I can get to (Live in BFE Michigan). When I lived in Texas the only races I could reasonably attend were sanctioned by AOF. So I race (Chase) with who I can. Not bashing anyone but I do have questions 1) Does NBRA have anything like Propeller? (on-line or print) 2) What is insurance "pay-out? 3) How long has NBRA been in existence?...APBA has been around my entire lifetime and My Dad's entire lifetime. Does APBA have problems? I'm sure more than I'm aware of..BUT for me its about being able to Race.

I used to race SCCA Autocross..The "stepping stone" so to speak in Road Racing. I was on the region BOD for 5yrs..We at out LOCAL races received NOT one drop of National support..we had ZERO fan attendance..Tire manufactures came to regional events TO SELL TIRES not as sponsors. My SCCA dues were about $100 (20+ yrs ago)..plus Local membership at $50 yr...entry fee was $60 per class..all this for 2 90 sec or so runs...oh yeah when I came back to boats I bought 2 Boats/2 Motors/Safety gear/Trailer/3 props/Camping equipment/Pd my AOF dues and went to 2 races,,FOR LESS MONEY THAN I SPENT ON TIRES ALONE the previous year. So, is about racing or *****in? Racing is EXPENSIVE..get over the $25 increase or don't race APBA..simple.

My rant of the week is now over..thanks

                          This thread

Why has this thread become a bashing for NBRA. I thought you were talking about why APBA dues went up. As far as the Wal-Mart vs Costco reference I dont get it. I know you die hard APBA guys will not accept that any other organization can have some good racing, but amazingly enough its true> I have been racing for 22 years and have been a member of AOF, APBA, and NBRA so I do speak from experience. You all have a right to your own opinion but do not bash something you have never and probably will never try.

                            Costs

For all that have sent me a P.M., thank you for that. It is much nicer to to speak in private than to sift through the measuring contest, chest thumping posts. Poor fella who started this thread is prolly in hiding.

Insurance costs, please follow the same guidelines you would for APBA. Go through the web, go to the site, and find out who to contact. Then contact them. It is that easy.

And Ryan, I still don't get you. You really publicly bashed me and my family on this very website a few years back. I NEVER forget. NEVER. Go preach your garbage to somone else, because I don't hear you, and never will.

Very well said..I must admit that I aways thought Costco was just a larger bulk version of Wal-Mart..

On another note it is amazing that the biggest whiners are going to use this site to bash everything but have never supported it and now they are willing to pay an extra $25 to APBA..How about $25 to hydroracer to.

On another note since APBA insurance is so expensive for a new club to consider when they want to get started in a less supportive or populated area how about having three insurance options such as a liability only low tier for say $500 a race. A second tier plan with some coverage for the drivers at around $1200 and then the third tier which is what APBA now has..Just a thought since the only folks that can pay for the insurance now are clubs that have been around since old growth timber existed.

                                Insurance

                                I wasn't passing judgement...just asking a simple question.

I think the APBA insurance costs are terrible and is the biggest drawback to local clubs/membership/putting on a race.

So, I was just curious as to what other organizations pay and what are the benefits.

I listed the APBA specs...plain as day.

Someone in NBRA must know them off the top of their head.
